Sound of Trumpet...
Thanks for your part in making history!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I signed a historic document.

Some say that the Czech Republic is the most atheistic nation on earth.
In a recent survey, fully 83% of the population stated that they did
not even believe God exists. In a typical cross section of 1000 people,
only two will be members of an evangelical church!

Zdislav V. Kovarik...
Can you name the source of that "recent survey"? The number 83% of
non-believers is unbelievably high.

we cna read

Roman Catholic 26.8%,
Protestant 2.1%,
other 3.3%,
unspecified 8.8%,
unaffiliated 59% (2001 census)

In the five years since the census, the apostasy could not be that
massive.

Most likely, your sources (if not you yourself) have doctored or made up
the numbers, perhaps to make you achievement shine a little brighter.

(It is a routine practice to overstate the traits of one's opponent, to
add to the impression of one's own success.)

Cheers, Slavek(ZVK)

....and I was giving out on all those communism trained atheist
It's not so bad at all in our Czechland. Much worst it looks here
in this secluded NG environment

Karel Kriz...
A slip of a finger, I am sure...you probably meant "Much WORSE it looks
here in this SECULAR NG environment" - Maybe you should offer a prayer
to be granted the correct word usage, at least a passable grammar and
the ability to make a point. Or send money to a tele evangelist - I am
told that works just as well. Or kick a communist in the ass...whatever.

Another point I'd like to make before you crack that bottle of Dom
you've been saving for this special occasion - 18 minutes of
"faith-based" programming a week, or whatever the deal is, on some
obscure channel is really going to make a difference. ...maybe another
prayer is needed, or a candle, or both!

With a secular, single finger salute, I remain,

Karel Kriz

Good for the Czech Republic!

Aatu Koskensilta...
You do realise, don't you, that the numbers are just made up?

Paul J Kriha...
He probably didn't mean his good wish either. :-)

The Czech Republic has Europe's lowest crime rates, one of the lowest
divorce rates in Europe, and a very high standard of living.

Syd M....
Well, we know the fundies are trying very hard to change that, huh..

Must be nice...

But God's existence is not threatened by those who deny Him. He is
actively making His name known, even in the darkest of settings.

About a year ago, on a whim and without much hope of success, we
approached Czech television with a proposal to produce a television
show designed to teach Biblical values to young people. To our
surprise, our offer fell at a time when they were looking for more
youth oriented programming, and becoming concerned about the moral
impact of violence and immorality on television.

In the end they not only expressed interest in our idea, but asked us
if we could expand our initial concept into a weekly 18 minute show
that would air on national television for an entire fall - 17 weeks!
But before approval could be granted, they needed us produce a pilot
episode.
Gathering together some of our best creative thinkers, including a man
who had been independently producing documentaries for Czech television
for the last 10 years, we filmed a prototype of a show we called
"Exit 316". Focusing in on a single topic (in this case,
forgiveness) we interviewed young people on the street, looked at the
views expressed by contemporary music, and then explored an "exit"
from the highway of popular opinion onto the "way of faith". A key
testimony and an explanation of the parable of the unmerciful servant
showed what can happen if truly forgive others.

zzpat...
I'm curious. Is this the same type of forgiveness the US displayed
against after 911 or another kind?

It's easy to be a Christian in the abstract, but in the real world,
there are very few Christians. Almost everyone wants revenge, that's
why we needed to see an entire country blow apart even though that
country had nothing to do with 911.

It took almost four months for the proposal to make its way through
committees and another two months to prepare the details of the
contract. But in the end it was approved. Yesterday, joined by some of
the team who are working to make this project a reality, I had the
privilege of signing the contract. Praise God!

Since the series will begin to air in the fall of 2006, we have much
work to do in these next six months. As you pray for the ministry of JV
this month, could you pray specifically for Exit 316? As near as we can
estimate, this show will reach at least a half a million people with
Biblical truth and teaching about God - in one of the most atheist
countries on earth.
Thanks for your part in making history!

Still surprised,
