I never watched House until last week's marathon on USA Channel.

I really, really enjoyed it. Dr. House is an ass, but he's very good
at what he does. He approaches medicine the way an engineer approaches
machinery: Steadily testing various theories on why the body is not
working properly.

Great stuff. I'll be adding House to my VCR program.

I've been loyal to House (on FOX) since day one, having never missed an
eppy. Yes, it is good stuff. I remember when the show had mediocre
ratings until American Idol (gag me) gave it a huge boost.

As to recording devices, I have all 3 (VCR, DVD recorder, and Direct TV
Tivo). Yes, a DVR can be considered a bit of a luxury, but it is nice
to be able to watch a recorded show (and zip thru the ads of course)
while recording something else at the same time. My other 2 devices
can't do that.

The problem with a VCR is that the recording will never be a perfect
copy (even at 2 hour speed). When I DVR or DVD something, I cannot
tell the difference between recorded and "live" TV.

cloud dreamer...
You still own a VCR...??? LOL.

Default User...
Hey, I still have a VCR. And use it. I haven't felt like put forth the
dough for a DVR service. If anything, I'm more likely just to get a DVD

RichA...
But you must submit to big brother TiVo like all the other SHEEP.

telenovels...
Well clouddreamer is just a sheeple... buys whatever the pretty ladies
on the tv-ads tell him to buy. & foolishly wastes his money.

cloud dreamer...
"him"???? "his"?????

recorder with a hard drive, but haven't.

I guess I find it funny that someone like Troy who proclaims to be a
defence contracted computer engineer and watches as much tv as he does,

It's sad that our military turns out such ILL-mannered persons as
yourself. I'm glad that you are the exception, not the rule. The
other ex-military people I know don't go around insulting people like a
teenage brat.

telenovels...
.

Only *after* they insult me first. I AM A MIRROR of whatever YOU are.

telenovels...
.

Well then, why don't we STOP this routine of "you did it first"? We'll
just agree, right here and now, to forget the past & stop insulting one
another in the future.

I can do that.

Can you?

You act like a ill-mannered teenager (instead of a 40-yr-old), and I'll
sling right back at you, and tell you you're acting like an uncivilized
barbarian/brat.

On the other hand, if you would act like the "adult" you supposedly
think you are, then I'll treat you like an adult.

Your choice.

Well, *I* am a software engineer. I'm not opposed to some sort of
enhancement, but I just haven't done anything along those lines.

telenovels...
Ditto. And thank you for your support. Unlike clouddreamer, we're not
mindless sheep following the crowd. We decide *for ourselves* whether
or not to buy a DVR.

We simply chose not to.

And we're ~$400 richer for it.

cloud dreamer...
So, I guess you have a black and white tv too. Can't possibly mindlessly
follow the crowd and upgrade from the colour set. Got a frost-free
fridge yet??? Did you follow the crowd so that you could conveniently
have a freezer you didn't have to defrost every other week???? Still got
that '65 chevy??? What??? Not mindlessly following the crowd and buying
something with better gas mileage????? YOU MUST still be using a Vic 20
or Commodore 64...can't follow that crowd and buy a PC or Apple...can
you??? Can't appear mindless.

LOL. Some people's kids.

doesn't have a DVR.

My dad's motorcycle stopped working because he meddled with it.
I told him:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The House formula works, so why
change it?

Also it's not always the same. Like in the most-recent episode, House
was arrested. And prior to that (I read) he was cured of his painful
condition, so there is some variety.
