Before the wild partying and wild outfits Lindsay Lohan did a cute

and getting big breasts and losing them

"Where did I put those? The were here a minute ago . . ."

What was lost can perhaps be found again.

Evidence? Look at the latest cover of Premiere magazine (at least the
one at Safeway on 2-22) with Lohan in a red dress.

Looks like there's an increasing amount of "top-heaviness" to work with
once again.

Ian J. Ball...
She needs more "top-heavy" in the brain.

movie called "Parent Trap". It was on Family Channel the other night.

IAPW...
Please and thank you.

It's a really cute movie. Lohan did a great job playing 4
characters--US girl, British girl, US girl pretending to British,
British girl pretending to be US.

Dawnie...
She was absolutely adorable in that movie.

veecksterama...
It is a shame how she turned out. She's so cute and wholesome and
talented in that movie. Reminds me of Judy Garland.

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
It's amazing what a little smack, and some knockers, can do to ya.

Ian (Yeah, OK, that's wasn't too cyncical...)

ANIM8Rfsk...
While she did a very good job, this seemed like one of the most unnecessary
remakes ever.

The gimmick in the original one was to take a well known young actress and
using new fangled tricks make it seem like there were two of her.

Bill Steele...
New-fangled tricks???

See Bette Davis in "A Stolen Life" or Doug Fairbanks Jr. in "the
Corsican Brothers." They were probably doing it in the silents.

Nobody went to "Parent Trap" for the special effects.

Donna B...
The original was noted for what Disney had achieved for FX - at that time.
But, that was with a very young Hayley Mills. IIRC a part of the renown,
re-invented technology had to do with being able to do the double roles in
color rather than in B&W, which goes nicely with what you're saying at
first, even if not, your latter statement.

Bill Steele...
Off the top of my head, Wonder Man (1945), That Night in Rio (1941) were
in color, and 3-strip Technicolor at that, which might have made optical
printing harder. There's nothing fancy about putting actors on both
sides of the screen or occasionally in front of a rear projection,
whether in black and white or color.

I suppose now I'll have to go look, but I don't recall any gee-whiz
effects in the Hayley Mills Parent Trap. If they'd had them they would
have used them in the fight at the dance, instead of smearing the
double's face with cake. IIRC, about 90 percent of it was the usual
double-over-the-shoulder made famous by Patty Duke.

ANIM8Rfsk...
For the record, The Parent Trap (1961) preceded The Patty Duke Show (1963)
by 2 years.

As others noted, this was not a big deal technically.

It was a common theme by Disney and others to use twins or two
characters that looked alike (played by the same actor) in various
comedies. I think the basis for all of them was "The Prince and the
Pauper" where two identical-looking kids switch places and sample life

Obveeus...
'Kids'? I thought they were mice. ;-)

on the other side. Many movies have used that theme; there was a Lance
Kerwin movie about a kid in the White House switching places with a kid
on the street. Disney did "Model Behavior" where a famous fashion
model switches with a geeky girl, probably others as well.

Steven L....
On TV, The Patty Duke Show did this back in 1963, portraying two
identical cousins (both played by Patty Duke) with very different
personalities.

One of the funniest was on Buffy/VS where a vampire double of one of
her friends came into their world. They had the double act human and
the human act like a vampire as part of the plot, Alyson Hannigan did a
great job playing those four roles.

Obveeus...
Always a great show...and Alyson was one of the highlights.

But who knew LL before The Parent Trap? For all anybody knew, there might

record.hunter...
I did. She was Ally on Another World.

Donna B...
Me, too. She was a very good one, too.

well have BEEN two of them. And the tricks were now old hat.

I was frankly amazed they didn't just use the Olsen twins.

IAPW...
For "cute" Lindsay Lohan films, I prefer Freaky Friday and Life-Size with
Tyra Banks. Life-size is a fairly enjoyable mindless pic. Although all
of her so far released films seem "cute" to me.
