It doesn't matter how good the show is someone will always hate it and
make a lot of noise about how much they hate it.

(Spoilerrific analysis)
*For once, the flashback sequences made sense. However, that "episode collage"
spoiled some fun and was kinda unnecessary.
*It would logically follow that it was Baltar who wrote that note
about 12 Cylon models to Adama. Caprica-Six had revealed this factoid
to him; he wouldn't want to personally reveal it because of questions
where he'd got that bit of information; and he would still want to
put this info available to Adama.
*The term "skinjob" and it's use: nice remembrance of classics.
*Resistance managed to score several satchels of plastic from somewhere
without proper timer? Not logical. Small minus for this.
*Something is definitely screwy with both Caprica-Six and Baltar having
harvey of each other in their heads. Simple hallucination out of guilt
probably won't cover it... Nanotech leakage from Six's nervous system
connecting them momentarily when Caprica was nuked?
*IMHO it just might be possible for Baltar to survive Caprica, with
Six covering him with her body and Baltar using up eight of the nine
lives of a cat.
*Baltar's cover frayed seriously when reborn-boomer heard that he was
responsible for letting C-Six to colonial defense net. This will have
consequences.
*Caprica-Boomer's cooperation with Adama and Roslin will probably hit
a new low after the baby episode. Enough to space her?
*The switcheroo with the baby weaves a tangled web. It's somewhat
understandable as Adama and Roslin think that Caprica-Boomer is
unconsciously leaking everything she sees or hears to the rest of
Cylons (probably not true), but there are multiple pitfalls for this
project in future. Especially if Roslin loses her next election and
keeps her successor in dark about this...
*I *really* hope that producers don't fall into that classic
"rapidly-growing kid" cliché...
*#3 was very much in classic villain mode. Hopefully her character
gets more depth later.
*What's with the Hollywood fixation with Desert Eagles?

4.5 stars - brilliant writing, now we are rooting for certain versions of
the cylons. Tricia Helfer can play so many different versions of herself,
its pretty amazing really. I love the Baltar/Number 6 switchover. A very
bizarre episode but it worked. Good special effects, too.

5. BSG is back with a vengeance.
I'm curious, is there a possibility that Moore and crew are going to jump
a generation somewhere down the line?
I can't see how we could have any satisfactory conclusion to the Hera
plotline otherwise...
Zombie Elvis...
|
Well, they keep going back 48 hours at the beginning of episodes. Why
not jump forward twenty years in a future episode? Or perhaps an
epilogue where they finally find Earth. Hera is now the CAG and Boxy
is in command of the Pegasus.

If they stick with what's trite, the baby will age rapidly.

Hence my use of the word "satisfactory".
It could be far worse though, remember Baby Geniuses? (shudder)

I personally didn't care for the vats of goop
a la _The Matrix_. (The Hollywood "unrealistic"
version though - I noticed their heads didn't
get slimed.) Or the subtext (It's got Lucy

That nit really did annoy me. Sharon's hair was
goopy at the bottom but dry at the top. The
whole vat of goop was unnecessary, but if they
were going to use it, they should have used it
sensibly.
|
Lawless; gotta do the subtext thing...) with
being "born again", cleansed of past sins, etc.
And I guess if you fall in love you get a "conscience"
in the form of your "soulmate" making snarky
remarks in the figments of your imagination.
(Okay, I'd like to get Caprica Six together
with Galactica Gaius and see if they either
exorcise each other or go looney trying to talk
to two versions of their significant other.)

Or even know which of the two they are addressing!

It's baaaack! After a bunch of mediocre to poor episodes, I was
afraid the show had runs its course. What a relief!
I loved the new role for Baltar, brilliant!
The switcheroo on Sharon's baby opens infinite possibilities. But a
mandatory deduction for a fleet of 50,000 having a number of
believable "candidate" still-borns for the switch (if I read that
right).
Possible inconsistency: this episode shows that reborn Cylons only
remember what their previous life knew up to their rebirth. But it
seems H-Sharon knows far more about T-Sharon's happenings aboard
Galactica after she hooked up with Helo?

Hopefully the baby is outta the picture until it's 14...at least.

I bet she's a mayfly child. The start of next season, she'll be a sassy
eight-year old.
I thought Downloaded was a 5-star ep, best one of the current season.
Really put a different spin on the Cylons.
Sharon's apartment was huge. I'm moving to Caprica.

10 stars.
I mean, they could have run Plan 9 From Outer Space after the intro and it
*still* would have gotten 5 stars just for #6's imaginary Baltar.
#6 has an imaginary Baltar, that is *so* cool...

You commit admittedly horrible acts of genocide and you are punished
with ... Gaius Baltar. Apparently stuck in your head and you CAN'T
GET RID OF HIM ... EVER.
Is there really a crime that terrible to deserve THAT?!
This is Moore showing, yet again, the hideous despair of existence in
his universe.
Seriously (so to speak!), I had to pause the tape at that point, I was
laughing so hard. Finally, this episode shows hope ... and wonderful
justice for Caprica Six.

I'd have thought that 0-1 would have been someting like the early
Mosaic betas.
Be that as it may, this episode had everything, action, drama,
suspense, naked Cylons. Boomer has never been so smoking hot as she
was in this episode. Everybody, Baltar included, looked great in this
episode. Caprica must have the best hair dressers in the universe.
After seeing Carprica Six in Baltar's head for so long, it was cool to
see Baltar in Six's head.

The Baltar / Six symatry was brilant. The first half of this episode
BreadWithSpam...
|
There was a moment, just a flash of a moment, when six
opened her eyes and saw Baltar, when I thought the he
might also be a cylon. Almost blew my mind. And then
he wasn't and the symmetry made perfect sense.
|
was great but then it became rushed and the ending was rather empty.
jphamlore...
|
Sharon's reaching out to grasp Six's hand in agreement is the
Battlestar Galactica version of the Peach Tree Oath of the Romance of
Three Kingdoms. Cylon heroes unite to attempt to restore the moral
compass of the empire against what must seem to be overwhelming odds.
But like Romance of Three Kingdoms I suspect the journey will not go
where Sharon and Six intend, despite many struggles and apparent
victories for them along the way.
|
This would have made a great two parter where they take more time.
Maybe the DVD will have an extended version with better editing.
Hopefully we will see a lot more of these sub plots in season 3.
BreadWithSpam...
|
The other thing is that back on Caprica, they started
with only showing three models of cylons, and as they
swept the scenery, a couple more showed up, but none
that we hadn't seen before. I kept expecting, at least
at the very end, for a new model to be revealed. I
have a pretty good suspicion of which person in the Fleet
will show up on Caprica as the next model revealed. But
Moore and company certainly may surprise us...

(And I never vote in these!)
The very idea of an imaginary Gaius inside the head of Six is worth a
5. The fact that we're finally getting a look inside the inner workings
of our mysterious enemies, including glimpses of their overconfidence
and vulnerabilities, is worth a 5.
(Now, if only "Lost" would give us a glimpse of The Others' camp!)
Best line of the night: "They're calling you Caprica Six!". Yes,

4.5 here. Only the nagging issues with "Caprica looks just fine, not
uninhabitable" to take away from an otherwise very good episode. And
Night Spirit...
|
Judging by Caprica's statement that the Cylon's have sinned against
god I don't think telling their fellow Cylons that they are misguided
will be enough. I expect that Caprica's statement to them will be
full of fire and brimstone.
Chris Basken...

Yes, it will take more than an email memo (subject: Brunch Re Radical
Rethinking of Our Plans and How They Relate to God's Will). But
regardless of how she delivers the message, it looks as though it will
basically be, "we screwed up."
|
|
the Six/Baltar reversal thing was very, very good.
Zombie Elvis...
|
But now we know that the Cylons are rebuilding and repopulating it.
That pretty much fixes the whole nuked back to the stone age issue.
|
|
Loved the Baltar-Six switch. I think this one really raised the bar on the
whole nature of the ghost Cylon(s). My take is that Baltar-Six and
Six-Baltar are a higher level Cylon, sort of like an overseer program,
further up the ladder in the Cylon chain than the 12 models. Could they be
the same Cylon identity? They certainly act differently, and in character,
but if they're a higher level program then maybe they have that ability.
Concerning the models, why is it that each "identity" always comes back to
the same model? They wouldn't necessarily have to, now would they?
