Tiny Dancer...
Sorry for the delay, kids, busy day on this end.

Last week's and last night's data from The Programming Insider
by Marc Berman:

Note: The Programming Insider next week will focus on the upcoming
fall 2006 primetime schedule announcements. All regularly scheduled
sections (including Primetime Ratings, Ratings Box, On the Air Tonight,
Reader Feedback and TV Trivia Time) will be pre-empted Tuesday
through Thursday.

TD Note: Who wins the Berman's-off-next-week pool? I know somebody
mentioned it. Step up and grab your case of Rice-A-Roni!

Obveeus...
So, is this stuff printed on 'his' website...some sort of one man show? I
just don't get why they can't do ratings stuff any time Berman is busy with
something else. If a newscaster at a local TV station takes the night off,
they don't skip showing the news. Why isn't there some
underling/assistant/intern there to take up the slack?

Tiny Dancer...
I don't get it either, hun. All the above stuff he's listed is on Marc's part
of the Mediaweek site. He's the TV and ratings guy and no one else
touches the numbers when he's off *shrug*

I'll fill in the blanks with the other guys (Zap2it and Variety), no worries.

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
Worries! Those other two often don't have Total Viewer numbers! ARGH!!

Cheers,

TD (aka Rhonda)

Overnight Ratings - Thursday 5/11/06

ABC: 6.24 (5.69)
WB: 3.65 (4.14)
UPN: 2.21 (2.49)

-Adults 18-49:
CBS: 6.6/18 (6.7/18)
NBC: 4.4/12 (3.9/11)
FOX: 3.6/10 (2.3/7)
ABC: 2.3/6 (2.0/6)
WB: 1.6/4 (1.7/5)

-Honorable Mention:
Smallville (WB)

-Yesterday's Losers (excluding repeats):
Love, Inc. (UPN), Eve (UPN), Cuts (UPN), Primetime Live (ABC)

Marc's Note re: NBC: Due to the expanded nature of the telecasts,
all overnight results for NBC are approximate and individual fast national
ratings cannot be determined. Based on the 8-10 p.m. block, the three
comedies averaged 8.68 million viewers, and a 3.8/11 among adults 18-49
according to the fast nationals. Although My Name Is Earl had a solid first
season, it is not the kind of break-out hit that NBC needs to rejuvenate
the evening. And neither is The Office.

If The CW wants to give Everybody Hates Chris a stronger platform next
season, here's an idea: Sunday at 8 p.m. Remember the days when
The WB had an audience with Sunday comedies like The Jamie Foxx Show,
The Steve Harvey Show and Sister, Sister? Why not go back to those
more successful roots?

Rob Jensen...
Scarily enough, I think Berman's right about this. There's *no*
sitcom presence on Sunday nights right now -- Fox's mostly-animation
lineup doesn't count -- even though the night sustained Married . . .
With Children for a gazillion years, not to mention numerous other
sitcoms, only some of which Berman mentions above.

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
If The CW doesn't put sitcoms on Sundays, my expectation is that they'll
only run *two* sitcoms on their entire schedule - EHC and "Girlfriends"
(on Wednesdays, either before or after their reality show).

This may be another reason why The CW strongly feels they don't need
"Reba".
