The Unit - will it be renewed?

The ratings seem to be doing ok. I wonder though if this will be renewed
for next Fall? Its kind of a weird companion piece to NCIS. NCIS is more
a dramedy then straight serious crime/military show.
The Unit is just so serious too serious in a way.

So any news on it being on the fall lineup?

No official news yet. But "The Unit" is a Top 20 show; it is even
beating NCIS in the Nielsen ratings and has been as high as 10th
place. As long as it stays that way, CBS is likely to renew it.

I would expect an official announcement in May.

All news about the Fall lineup would be coming next month, but it seems
certain to be picked up. However, I don't think it would stay on the same
night as NCIS. It's likely they would want to use it to help boost other
nights.

But, where would they put it? CBS, lucky for them, doesn't have that
many slots to fill and their needs are in the comedy arena rather than
drama. I'm sure that all of their current dramas/cop shows will be back
next season. Therefore, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are
either filled already. The only open slots are on 8PM Monday and
Wednesday and CBS usually puts comedies there. If they dump their
Sunday night movie, possibly, but wouldn't football reach the same
audience? If they move it and the CBS Movie goes, Sunday would be the
best bet. It's too bad they've given up on Saturdays, it might be a way
to get people watching tv that night again. There was a time that
action/drama shows did very well for them on Saturday nights.
