With this game being entirely a matter of luck and requiring no brains,
beyond calculating odds which most seem to lack or ignore, the producers
are clearly free to choose contestants for looks, personality and
comfort in front of millions. And they are taking full advantage of

I'm pretty sure this is true of many game shows. I recall reading an
article many years ago about how to improve your chances of being
selected to be on a game show, and even "intellectual" shows like
Jeopardy look for contestants with attractive personalities.
Remember when there were dozens of simple game shows on daytime TV, like
"Card Sharks", "Wheel of Fortune", and that game where they rolled huge
dice? What do you think the criteria for choosing contestants was?
I think the people who complain about how mindless DoND is have
forgotten how mindless *most* game shows have been. Quiz shows are the
minority.

The other interesting things are the special personalized offers, though
they appear early enough in the game (The formulaistic "nobody will take
the deal that soon".) point, and the surprise family apearences. Though
while fun they are getting predictable.
