There was a Ringo TV special with Carrie Fisher and Mike Douglas, do
you remember it? He played a newsboy named Ognir Rrats who traded
places with Ringo Starr. I remember that it was funny and
unpretentious. He did You're the Greatest and You're 16 and others.
I read that George Harrison was in it, but what did he do in it?
I can't find very much about it on the web.

I remember it, but only very little. One scene I still remember: Mike
Douglas, thinking the newsboy is Ringo, has him on his television show
and features him in a solo drumming spot. Ringo flails pitifully at
the drum kit, not having the slightest idea what to do, as Mike Douglas
shouts encouragement. I'd love to see it again.

I remember this. I think it was called "Ringo! With a Little Help from
His Friends." Shown on NBC around April 1978 about a week after the
album release.. The show featured several old Ringo tunes and 3 from
the Bad Boy album, "Heart on My Sleeve," "Who Needs A Heart," and "A
Man Like Me."
Loosely based on the Price and the Pauper. Mostly a vehicle to
advertise his new album at the time, "Bad Boy". George Harrison was the
narrator.
I also remember him being on Phil Donahue that week promoting it. I'd
like to see that interview again as it was prety candid.

I watched it when it aired and had high hopes for it, but if I remember
correctly it was the lowest-rated show of the week.

It has an IMDB entry:
It merely says George played himself. And Angie Dickinson was Pepper
Anderson! Huh.
