I'm channel surfing between Earl and Ugly.
Any recommendations other than PBS?

I'll be recording both on the DVR while watching Survivor which was
recorded an hour earlier. After I watch the soap I recorded from even
earlier, of course. But if you want to know which to watch first;
it'll be Earl/The Office before Ugly Betty.

Yeah, they're taking a pounding from Ugly Betty right now, NBC really
should move them. A good comedy is a terrible thing to waste.
As to which to watch, it depends on your sense of humor - I think UB's
a hoot, but YMMV.

I wish they'd move those to Tuesday where they used to live at 9...I
think, anyway. And while they're at it go ahead and bring in
Scrubs...and ummm....are there any other good NBC comedies left?

I don't watch Betty, but Earl, as well as The Office, is one of those
show I like to save up in bunches and watch in 2 or 3 hour blocks on a
Weekend afternoon.

here's how I do Thursday nights, thanks to the miracle of having the
Superstations package to be able to tape/DVR Smallville and
Supernatural off KTLA later in the night:
Central Time Zone, BTW.
7:00-8:00pm -- Watch live: Earl/The Office, tape: Ugly Betty
8:00-9:00pm -- Watch live: CSI, tape: Grey's Anatomy
9:00-10:00pm -- Watch live: ER
10:00-11:00pm -- Watch live: Smallville*
11:00-12:00am -- Watch live: Supernatural*
Actually, I am normally timeshifting tapings from another night from
10:00pm to 12:00am. I watched Grey's, ER, Smallville and Supernatural
on Friday morning this week. Also, I tend to timeshift my more
favorite shows (Grey's, Betty) and watch my less-favorite shows
(Earl/The Office and CSI) live when there are two shows in the given
timeslot, as there are in both of the first two hours above.

Real time: Earl. Tape/DVR: Betty. Betty has more "I have to see that
again right this second" moments per half hour than the Earl/Office
combo does.

Last week was tape Earl/Office, watch baseball live. Best drama of the
night!
