Have any members of the press asked him if he'd consider taking on the
role?

doctor...
NO. He has categorically declined.

shawn...
I don't know if he could handle the comic aspects well. He does very
well at the dramatic parts but I haven't seen him do a light hearted
comedic role. While the Dr. has his dark serious side the comedic side

mattlb...
Even in "A Bear's Tail" he was quite dour, and that was a sitcom.

WILL GILLIES...
I did consider this but i'll admit WHy let the son of a guy who was the
Doctor be the Doctor?

Each incarnation should be different, and it's not a blood inherted
role is it?

has played a large part of his character through out the many doctors.

Ubiquitous...
Is the current Dr Who series considered to be part of the canon?

Paul Harman...
Insomuch as "canon" exists for Doctor Who which has fragmented into a dozen
interrelated and yet contradictory strands before the new series launched...
yes. "Classic" Doctor Who still exists as far as the new series is
concerned. There aren't gratuitous references, but characters and monsters
from classic Doctor Who have turned up in the new series.

pv+usenet...
Yes.

He's past his maximum number of incarnations, is he not?

John Long...
Not quite. It's been established on several occasions that
a Time Lord has twelve regenerations. In that case, there
can be thirteen doctors, according to original series
continuity. In that case, he has three left. The new series
has not addressed that issue, however. And I doubt it will
ever hinder a potential series, if we do reach thirteen at
some point. They'll either write around it, as they did
with the master, or ignore it entirely. We don't have to
worry about that any time soon though.

Jim Vieira...
the

Jim Vieira...
Has the issue of the Valeyard ever been addressed anywhere else in
the series, or in books? I mean, he was supposed to be the final
incarnation
of the Doctor from what I remember. Won't they have to deal with that if
they ever make it to number 13?

videonovels...
.

Let's just pretend that horrible year never happened. (Which is likely
what the writers will do; perhaps mention in passing that it was an
alternate timeline which Doctor #6 eradicated; but more likely they'll
just ignore it.)

Invid Fan...
Naw, I loved that season. Can't wait for Trial of a Timelord to hit dvd

That's what the writers did when Doctor #4 (curly haired guy) had a
"mind probe" attached to himself, and we saw 5 or 6 incarnations that

WILL GILLIES...
Yeah, he was in the BBC PDA Matrix...
I have a personal theory, the Valeyard went after the sixth Doctor, to
prevent the Seventh from coming into existence as it was the Seventh
Doctor who finally beats him....

predated Doctor #1 (the ancient white-haired gentlemen). The writers
simply pretended that episode never happened.

Jim Vieira...
I take it you refer to the "Brain of Morbius"?

It was my understanding that the people who worked on that episode
had every intention of those earlier faces being earlier incarnations
of the Doctor.. but later said it was supposed to be faces of Morbius,
to fit with Tom Baker being the 4th.

Invid Fan...
Well, that's because Colin Baker was to be a rather unstable Doctor, at
times an anti-hero (a throw back to the original idea for the first
Doctor). That's a theme that goes throughout his first season.

Paul Harman...
Well yes, obviously that;'s what the dialogue was scripted to suggest... but
with the Morbius Faces theory it is ian interesting alterante readin of the
scene.

doctor...
IMHO, he declined.

Paul Harman...

Murphoid...
Those were MORBIUS's previous incarnations! I can't beleive how many
people think that those were other doctors!
No, the current Doctor is #10, and the only limit that we've had reported is
13 lives.

mchary...
It's fiction. They can jsut come up with something else. Hell, maybe he
got all the lives of the Timelords who died in the Time War. The they
suggested regenerations were tranferrable in the Trial of a Time Lord
series.

shawn...
Even that may not be fixed. I seem to recall one episode that focused
on the Master trying to extend his number of regenerations.

ClabberHead 6.0...
The Master was offered a new set of regenerations in "The Five Doctors"
