Yes, there are other Sunday morning news shows. I don't often watch them so
I won't c & c them.
Host Personality:
In terms of TVQ George wins out over Tim Russert. In terms of gravitas Tim
wins. George will likely gain more of it as he ages - that elder wisdom
thing.
The Interview:
Very close but I give the edge to Tim. His one annoying trait is to
constantly needle pols when they refuse to say if they will or wont run.
Generally holding a pol's feet to the feet is a good thing but we all
understand when a pol is refusing to say one way or the other. It means he
hasn't decided.
They even did a skit on SNL with John McCain regarding it - and McCain
referenced it on MtP when Russert was needling him about if he would run.
The panel:
Hands down TWwGS wins out. George Will and Fareed Zakkaria stand out for
their intelligent opinions - even when I disagree their reasoning is solid.
I liked Bill Krystal for a right wing view. But he has since moved to Fox.
Cokie as the Grand Dame and former regular is a welcome member of the panel
as well. She seems to know a lot of the inside the beltway info.
Compared to TWwGS; MtB, other than Tim Russert no one on MtB really stands
out. He is good but the panel is usually competent but not as good as TWwGS.
The segments:
These are hit and miss. George's review of political humour is nice enough
but I've usually seen the shows so it's nothing new. I like the idea of the
short interview with a non-politico but most in practice don't interest me.
Russert doesn't really do 'segments' but more interviews with political
figures and such. Good if the guests are good but uninteresting if they are
not.
