4.5 stars. Way better than the season premier imho. Jin & Sun's back
stories are always interesting.

A 3.5 for me, but not based on dull or exciting. I'm just having a
little difficulty seeing where this is going. I'm almost starting to
believe the possibilty ventured here (sorry I can't remember who, to
give credit), that the Others and the crash survivors will have to band
together to struggle against some common impediment. Maybe Smokey is
the only true native of the island and would rather everyone else just
leave (or be "gone"). The Others seem to be as lost as the crash folk.
Ben seems to prefer manipulation rather than brute force ("Sayid and
his......fists").
What are the Others building?
Is it important or just a make-work project to mess with captives?
It seems to be strange and inefficient to enslave rather than
accomplish the task by themselves.
Based upon Sun's falshback, I'm also starting to believe that class
struggle has at least something to do with this. The titular head of an
oligarchy/hegemony rarely dirties his own hands, instead relying on
"incentive".
Just thinking (and no, it didn't hurt)

It was a bummer, because he didn't get to watch it all as it happened. Plus,
his father wasn't alive to see it.

3.75
Better than last week, though my hopes for coherency in the rumoured
"master plot" fade by the minute. Rather than the grand excitement of
"wow, can they pull this off" we move quickly this season to trying to
just enjoy watching the pot-boiling.
The "We are not really the bad guys" business from a group of
manipulative turds is really getting old.
The double-reveal of Sawyer-was-testing-them and
they-are-listening-to-Sawyer was pretty slick.
I always like Jin/Sun flashbacks; Daniel Kim is the best actor on the
show IMO, Was there a bit of retcon in the reveal that Sun *was*
sleeping with Mr. Clean? I thought we had previously learned that,
despite appearances, she wasn't. We also had a bit of discussion here
as to whether the timeline allows for Sun's baby to be Mr. Clean's, or
whether it's Jin's in an Island Miracle Conception.
Another "wow" performance by the Benry-actor, too. When was the lat
time a little nerdy guy could come across so menacing and intense.

Norman Bates.
Bill Gates.

Again I'll reference Gregory Itzen from 24 -- not many actors could
Ken from Chicago...

You can trust Benry. He's one of the good guys.

keep up such inscrutability while never being bland.
More Others, and apparently even *another* "tribe" on the island,
which must be the size of New Zealand by now. (Of course it still
seems that the Runaway Couple are probably play-acting as part of the
testing and manipulation routine).

A real downer of an episode that dragged at times, but it was still
good. A lot happened.

I give this episode 5 Stars. As of tonight's episode we know the
current date on the island is 29 November 2004. It looks like the
survivors missed out on Thanksgiving. Oh, and the leader of 'The
Others' group is Benjamin Linus.

4.5. Nice to see that Jin knows more English than people think he does.
So Sun was unfaithful...so maybe Jin ain't the daddy. But then maybe he
his and this was to get us to think he isn't.
