That is the buzz on TV this morning. I still think it is going to be
a disaster. The older
viewers of CBS evening news are probably not going to accept her and
there will be
resentment among the old guard at CBS news that one of their own did
not get the job.

I don't think anyone will resent it. There's a recognition of experience
throughout the industry, and it's not uncommon for newscasters to switch
networks. Besides, the NBC position has been recently filled and it could be
a decade or two before it opens up again. That would be too late for Couric.
It's the top position in any newscaster's career and she has to go for it no
matter what network.
As for the older viewers, you're talking about people mainly of her
generation. I don't think they would have a problem with her.

Do you doubt your dad couldn't appreciate looking at a woman 20 years
younger than him? Besides, I don't think CBS really is quite that concerned
with loosing viewers of the 80+ crowd anyways. (They loose them every day.)

The problem is that what works for a fluff show like the Today show
doesn't necessarily work for the Evening News. Its a lot more serious
and if not treated as such it'll get laughed off TV.

loosing? loose? Weren't we just talking about this? Serious question,
since you did it twice -- why 'loosing' when you meant 'losing' and 'loose'
when you meant 'lose'?
