I guess I could be misremembering it (they didn't showed him shooting
himself) but I though they panned up and revealed he had not shot himself.
Didn't he talk to her after the gun shot was heard?

Yes. He fired a shot so the guys waiting outside would think he shot Large
Breasted Girl. Not sure how he's gonna explain it to the clean up crew.

I'd guess that he just came out of the room and locked the door
behind himself, and when his subordinates asked about cleaning up
he said something like "Screw it. There's nothing in there we
need, and if somebody finds her body five years from now, so what?"
