Hi... I'm new to the NG and wondered if there were any reactions to ABC's
Boston Legal. Personally, I think it's one of the funniest shows on this
season (so far anyway)...

I also think its pretty cool they brought in Quark and Neelix from Star
Trek for a couple of episodes. Odo, Kirk, Neelix, and Quark together~!

We love it. The Shat is great. Not sure why they thought they needed
the new lawyer though. And give Selleck and The Shat some scenes
together!

The new guy just seems to be a variation of Alan Shore.

But hey, at least Mark Valley still has nothing to do.

Valley had a greater role in the second half of season 2, did you miss
him chopping off a priest's hand and cool stuff like that? I'm sure the
show will turn towards him again after a while.

There is really only one actor that this show is about -
Spader. Everything else is ultimately only supporting roles
to flesh out the hour.

And this is bad? It's the only show that I'm watching right now, and I'm
sorry that I missed the first year. (I will be watching 24 this year also).

Yeah, that's the thing. New guy's role could have been handled by
either of them.

First time I've seen a Cheers reference on Boston Legal. Have there
been others? On the 10/3 episode, Ivan and Shirley go to dinner at
Melville's, which is the restaurant upstairs from Cheers. Makes sense,
since Phoef Sutton, a Cheers writer, is a producer on BL.

Yeah, thanks from me, too. As you, it sounded familiar but I just
couldn't place it.

I love this show, especially the interactions between Shatner and
Spader. Also agree about the new guy - did they just want to bring in
someone "younger"? Audiences not reacting well to Mark Valley? Do
love the show though - I wish there were more discussion about it!

Obviously there's all sorts of discussion if you watched Arrested
Development -- I mean Star Drek.

Seriously, though, if by "someone younger" you mean Craig Bierko, they
replaced an even younger guy, Justin Mentell, by bringing Bierko on,
but that's how it is on Ally McKelley shows.
