Kidnapped gone mid-series - I don't get it

If NBC had finished 13 episodes of Kidnapped and completed the story, they
would have something to syndicate....some DVD's to sell...something of
value. An annuity.

Now, they are basically flushing 6 or so episodes at $2 million + per
episode. Nothing to sell. Nothing to salvage.

And really, the program wasn't half bad...better than a lot of stuff out
there.

What were they thinking?

Roger Thaat...
Perhaps they'll run 'em later, after sweeps. I find this practice very
frustrating.

I started the new season looking for a few new programs. I decided I
didn't want another fantasy serial, so I passed on Heroes. Ditto for
Jericho. I tried Vanished, but it was awful. I looked at Justice, but it
was worse.

I like Dana Delaney, and Mikaleti W. so I gave Kidnapped a go. And Smith
wowed me with that pilot. And I really like Sorkin's stuff so Studio 60
was added to my list. And what do I have now, a couple of months later?
A cancellation (Smith); an MIA (K'nped) and circling the drain (S60).

I'm fully prepared to give up on TV and get myself a router table and
start making birdhouses or something.

Nothing stops NBC from putting out the DVDs....and they'll have an

Nothing except the fact that they don't own the DVD rights.

attractive "Never before seen episodes" banner splashed across the cover...

Rob Jensen...
Depends. Was there any mention that NBC Uni is indeed going to finish
filming the remainder of the 13 episodes?

The show isn't produced by NBC-Universal. It's produced by Sony
Pictures Television. Nothing's been said about whether Sony will
continue production on the unfinished episodes.

I was just about to ask the same thing. I have a friend who was following
the show, and I'd like to be able to give her some good news about the
possibility of seeing the "full" 13 eps at some point.

It's got to be part of an international conspiracy to keep me from
getting my Dana Delany fix. :) Why a network can't find a vehicle
for her that can survive into a second season perplexes me.

This source:

claims the 13th ep of KIDNAPPED is filming, so a burn-off after sweeps,
and/or a DVD release could happen.

telenovels...
Interesting - "TVGuide.com has procured an official update on the
series' fate, from an NBC spokesperson: 'Kidnapped will not return to
the television screen after sweeps. However, the remaining eight
episodes will run on NBC.com.''"

So those of us with hi-speed connections like dsl/cable will be able to
watch the show.

I wonder if it also requires a Dual-Core PC? ;-)
