ER: Flaming patient

On the 10/19 episode, a patient apparently burst into flames on the
operating table. I didn't hear any explanaiton and a replay didn't
give a clue as to how.
What happened?

Haven't seen it yet, but usually such instances are due to one thing:
a certain kind of chemical and/or chemical burn being exposed to
oxygen.

I believe that that's what it was & that oxygen was ever so briefly
mentioned. The fire was also much more surface-looking than the spontaneous
combustion episode from years ago.

the oxygen mentioned was a "turn off the oxygen before we all blow up" in
reference to the o2 tanks located right beside the patient

Who's debating? I've never seen any credible information related to
actual cases or any mechanism that could cause it. The amount of heat
required to cause combustion in a human being is trememdous.

I didn't watch it because I don't care for their "tour de force"
offerings (like Ray Liotta last season) -

you mean Forrest Whitiker? well it wasn't really...I dont know how theyre
stringing this out to be a 6 episode arc but it doesn't really seem needed.
Also is the hot female surgeon from last year gone?

If you mean the one that was hot for Morris, I think she's already
been on ER once since the season opener, but it was a brief
appearance.
