"The 23rd Psalm"
1-11-06 Lost

5 stars (a cup of wine)

pv+usenet...
3.0. Yet another weird connection between past and future inhabitants of
the island. I'm subtracting a point because the big surprise before the
hiatus, Michael's computer conversation, went nowhere. *

0-1 stars (a head of motor oil)

Grey Wolf...
Just watched this earlier tonight (saving Invasion for early tomorrow
night), and will give it a 4.25. I liked this episode, Eko's
backstory was not what I expected. Ok, actually, I had no idea what
to expect. The guy is a good actor, I'll give him that... when he
wants to be menacing, I'm cowering in a corner and when he's saying a
prayer, I'm weeping and wanting to follow along.

Well, maybe I'm not quite that bad... but close. He's a great
addition to the cast.

Boo on Claire, she should be more forgiving. There's lots worse
creeps out there than Charlie... though Charlie has got quite the
little stash built up. He's not as goody-two-shoes as I was thinking.
And the fact that he didn't throw the statue away when Eko gave him a
new one, was telling. He's still addicted.

The smoke monster (security system?) was interesting. Getting a nice
long look at it, while ultimately pointless, was still strangely
satisfying. Now if we could figure out what causes the voices, then I
will be even happier.

3.5

Eko's back story good.

The smoke monster bad. Color me unimpressed. It sure doesn't explain much
and hard to believe it's the same monster who ripped the pilot apart.

The only thing I can think of for why Michael wouldn't tell anyone else
about Walt is that "Walt" impressed upon him the need for secrecy. When

Ubiquitous...
Did he? Walt's reposnse seemed to indicate that he was using a computer
somewhere to chat while THE OTHERS weren't watching him. For shame! Don't
they know about leaving a child on the Internet unattended?

Michael was shown on the computer, "Walt" asked if he was alone, As far as
I know, we're not even sure it really is Walt yet.

David B...
4.0 Interesting backstory for Eko. Another character with a dark past.
We got answers about the plane mystery except for why it came to be in
the South Pacific..

Jim Phillips...
It's there because Eko is on the island.
Anyone who doesn't think the island is supernatural must let me know
what they're smoking...

4.5 (a fine root beer)

Loved the back story on Eko.

weberm...
Four stars.

PmChivas...
I'm going for applied with make-up, however, later in the series I'm
sure he'll actually grow a beard for real or they will "discover"
razors in the bunkers that the men can use for shaving.

rwgibson13...
Or they can simply keep sharpening Locke's knives...

RWG (he's certainly got enough of 'em :-)

Yay! We FINALLY get to see Lostzilla!

Yay! We FINALLY get to see a flashback that's not redundant!

Yay! PLOT ADAVANCEMENT!

Boo! Michael tries ro hide his chatroom sessions with Walter from

It seemed apparent to me that the screen went blank when Walt terminated

Steven L....
I don't remember if Apple II monitors blanked to prevent "burn-in."
Wasn't that when the first screen-saver apps started appearing?

Ubiquitous...
I used to work with computers that did just that, or rather, would return
to whatever you were doing before you initiated the chat session.

Jim Phillips...
It would be interesting if there never was a message. Michael
has been through quite a bit over the last few days...

weberm...
I sppse if Michael had nodded off and drempt the whole thing, but that
seems rather unlikely to me.

the chat session.

Jack! (Why?)

ANIM8Rfsk...
Well, Walt did say "are you alone"

Ubiquitous...
Oh, I thought Michael asked that; Didn't Walt type something about
only being able to chat when THE OTHERS weren't around?

Half off for Michael hiding his search for Walter--especially from Jack of

Steven L....
Actually, they don't.

The reality TV show "Survivor" has security folks around to keep
visitors away from the area where the game is filmed. And yet they are
often plagued by unwelcome visitors, often hackers looking to create
"spoilers" to give away the game in advance. In fact, these hackers

Oops, it wasn't a satellite that caught the shot of the player having
been voted off, it was a witness. That's the other problem. With that
many people involved, there's always someone willing to sell out for money.

player as she was leaving Tribal Council, proving she had been voted off
the island. Made a nice spoiler.

John Schilling...
That usually just slows them down a little while as they throw money and
lawyers at the fence-builders. The only think that keeps real estate
developers, etc, at bay for long, is if another batch of developers or
whatever got there first.

And, more to the point, the fence doesn't stop people from looking down
from above and trying to see if the big expensive airplane they just lost
might be lying around there, and it doesn't much slow down their arrival
when they see that yes, it is.

John Schilling...
How so? Jonestown's existence and location were not secrets to anyone,
inside or out, it was periodically visited by people who were interested
in what was happening there, and if an airplane had crashed there the
survivors would have been rescued within hours.

island, let alone uncharted?

all people on the island, even after what Jack told him.

patty1...
I'll give it a 4.0. We got an interesting backstory on Eko that
also had consequences for Charlie, we saw Eko confront the monster,
there was movement on the Walt/Michael storyline, and we got to
see Sawyer looking totally perplexed at everyone treating him nicely. :-)
