KIDNAPPED UPDATE: It's just been whispered in my ear that, as we
speak, Kidnapped is wrapping production on its 13th and final episode,
and that the entire demi-season "is bound to have a life on DVD." As
for the broadcast airings we were promised, I have a call into an
official NBC rep. Here is what he said.
About an hour ago, I updated today's original Kidnapped news story
with a report on how the struggling serial is wrapping production on
its 13th and final episode as we speak, and that the entire
demi-season "is bound to have a life on DVD," said my source. Now,
TVGuide.com has procured an official update on the series' fate, from
an NBC spokesperson: "Kidnapped will not return to the television
screen after sweeps. However, the remaining eight episodes will run on
NBC.com."

Is it possible that these web-only episodes will somehow end up in torrent-
land? My Internet connection is just a little bit too slow to keep up with
NBC's streaming.
It would be different if you could pause the video and allow the player to
buffer up a few more minutes. I've found that you can do that with NBC's
streaming commercials... if you click "pause", the commercial will continue
to load. But with the actual program content, if you click "pause", the
stream stops loading. It's annoying and frustrating.
I would imagine it's quite a bit more difficult to capture and transcode a
proprietary web stream than a simple DTV broadcast. I'm just wondering if
there are people out there who bother to try.

Even with DSL, I find that streaming from the networks' websites doesn't
work well for me. I get lots of dropouts, where the video seems to just
freeze up--and then it restarts from the previous commercial break.
Over and over.
It has sometimes taken me 90 minutes to watch a 45 minute episode.

I've had to watch Ugly Betty a couple of times on ABC's player when I
made a mistake and forgot to set the DVD recorder and it worked out
pretty well as did Book of Daniel when I watched it via online as well.
The only problem is that it seems the picture is a bit dark, at least

I turn the brightness knob on my Computer Monitor to a higher setting.
You should do the same.
I wonder why some people like Steven have problems? Not enough memory?
Speed too slow? (They recommend 500 kbits/second.) I've watched all
the various sites and had no problem whatsoever.

If only this newfangled "Internet" thing existed a year ago, back when

It was. Or at least it was a few months later. Doesn't anyone
remember that NBC burned off THE BOOK OF DANIEL on-line?

Reunion was on.
