Especially in today's high tech world, if one misses an episode, he or she

minority, and high-tech people with broadband are a smaller minority

I do agree with your main point. Clip shows may make some sense when
there are several seasons available for review; to show clips of a
part of the current season and call it "new" is really rather
irritating.

That is illegal because ABC hasn't started offering paid downloads yet.
You can break the law if you want, but don't suggest that to others
as a viable alternative.

every season. I suggest people bypass ABC's two clip shows this Sunday and
watch CBS' In From the Night. It is Hallmark Hall of Fame. You can't be
disappointed.
