CW network stays on UPN/WB channels - helps with transition

Reviewing this list of affiliates, most viewers (approximately 95%)
will continue watching their favorite programs such as smalllville, 7th
heaven, veronica mars on the same channel that they've always used.

While 95% of CW affiliates are former WB or UPN affiliates, they
couldn't be BOTH. So either Smallville and 7th Heaven will be on the
same channel, or Veronica Mars will be, but not both.

And on MyNetwork, 71% of MyNetwork affiliates were former UPN stations,
and 6% were former independent stations; only 13% of MyNetwork stations
were former WB stations.

So despite some overlap caused by the merger, The CW ended up in
practice being mostly former WB, and MyNetwork ended up in practice
being mostly former UPN.

That will help with the transition on September 18, as people will be
able to continue watching the same channel they've always watched:

You cannot estimate a percentage of viewers from that list.

In the fifth largest TV market, the WB affiliate will become
independent while the CBS owned UPN affiliate will become
a CW broadcaster.

From the national ratings, one might conclude not many viewers have
been watching WB or UPN. Since I rarely watched UPN or WB,
I can continue to watch the same channels I've been watching.
