- Someone edited the page to list "new shoes from 2007 to 2012"
- They added a section: "UPN relaunches in September 2007"
- I deleted both changes (I think? Not really sure how wiki works).

Thanks for helping!
The easiest way to revert vandalism is to consult the revision history
and restore the last version that preceded the vandal's edits.

Hmmm.
I wonder what would motivate someone to do that? SOMEONE must really
love the old UPN network.

Some people get their jollies by adding random nonsense to Wikipedia
articles.

This is why Wiki is always suspect: people with your memory can/do edit
the pages.
The failure of MyNetworkTV and the recently proposed changes to that network
have probably spurred on whatever nimrod messed with the page originally.

The only time I bother with Wiki is when I am posting a link to
something...that was copied originally from Encarta....Encarta not being
free.

When did MY TV fail?
Obveeus...
|
The day it was launched. the concept was horrible.

Actually, on paper, the concept made a lot of economic sense. The soaps
cost very little to produce. Therefore, if they got only a tiny fraction of
the audience (but more than they're getting now), My Network TV could
potentially make more money then The CW. In fact, many stations chose the
MY affiliation over The CW.
I don't think the problem is the genre, just the quality of the shows. One
of my co-workers loved Fashion House but hated Desire. The other problem
was that there was no plan B. In fact, the management for My Network TV was
weak, as it was co-run by Fox's O&O stations and Fox's syndication unit 20th
Television. There was no main office, and no official relationship with the
Fox Network.
The biggest risk, the one which failed, was that they were primarily
targeting people who traditionally did not watch prime time English-language
U.S. Broadcast television. Just not enough people showed up.

Seems to work okay for Univision.

Univision has a 'captive audience'.

Please explain.

Clearly, we have a language barrier.

In other words you don't know what you meant.

Recently, those horrible rating have started those in control of the network
talking about adding reality TV shows, wrestling/fighting, and more to try

What wrestling show was added? I only saw that they took away WWE Smackdown.
Ian...
|
THEY didn't take away Smackdown. Likely your MyNetwork TV station was your
UPN station. Smackdown moved to the CW. I doubt that My would add
wrestling, as they had the chance many times to have a major wrestling show
on FX and passed on it.

and gather some sort of fanbase for the network.

Huh? We are talking about proposed changes to the MyNetworkTV programming.
Nothing has been done yet. Right now, they are still doing two nightly
soaps and nothing else as far as I know.

What if someone came along & made changes that were not noticeable?
For example changing "UPN ended Sept 7, 2006" to "Sept 6". No one's
going to notice such a small error.
David Levy...
|
A typical reader probably wouldn't notice the discrepancy, but the
change from "7" to "6" would appear in the revision history (which
many people pay attention to) and the edit would be noted on the
watchlists of everyone watching the article.
