I've got some really bad news that has me and will have all "Alias"
fans upset. J.J. Abrams has just announced he will NOT be directing the
series finale since he will be busy with tours and what not for his
Mission Impossible 3 Movie :(.... here is the link:

Are you kidding me? So what?!?! At this point, I'm just happy to hear
news that there will be a finale. It's been off for so long now with
no new news about when it will return that I'll take the fact that this
showed up in the press as good news, even if he won't be directing.

Totally with you on that sentiment. JJ, basically, had abandoned Alias when
he took on Lost.
Part of the misdirection of Alias sits on his shoulders.
So far this season has been decent considering that Jennifer could not do
much.

Agreed. Direction is vital, but if they have a solid script, I'll be
fine with it.

Well, the article doesn't say who's going to be directing it, but if
Ken Olin is directing, it'll still be great (probably better than if
JJ directed it, IMO). There are two or three other directors in the
regular rotation that would do fine, too.

Ken Olin directing and Lena Olin guesting would be the topper for me.

I'm figuring late March, given the likelihood that at least one of the
midseason replacements will be cancelled after just one or two
episodes. They'll have 13 episodes left to show, so I'm figuring that
they'll show the next two episodes back-to-back when they return, the
finale will, of course, be two-hours and then they'll probably have to
show at *least* two more hours back-to-back (probably 99 and 100 or
100 and 101) to get it all in before the end of the official season in
late May.
