A good example. Democracy allowed whoever foolishly decided to
produce this to actually put it on the air and democracy allowed those
who were offended by it to exercise their opinion, driving it off the
air. Now, if they could only figure out how to get people to do that

Wrong. Actually democracy allowed those who were bored by it to just
not watch it, and then those who were offended by it to take
undeserved credit for something they had nothing to do with.

The low ratings would not have caused NBC to cancel Episode 3 (why cancel
one episode out of the middle of the series?), and not allow the final few
episodes to run. NBC knew it was taking a risk with the show. Low ratings

You say that as though shows doing this badly hadn't been cancelled
this quickly before. But they are, all the time.

would have meant the show would not be picked up for a full season, that's
all.
NBC cancelled the show before the last couple episodes were broadcast
because they had lost most of their sponsors.
