Emmitt's Win

I'm so surprised that there are no posts about the DWTS results yet!

The real credit should be to Cheryl. She not only won two championships,
she taught both winners. Coincidence? I think not.

I agree absolutely! Cheryl is a great teacher. No coincidence there at
all. I think she has a great sense of where her pupils' strengths lie,
and she uses those strengths in her choreography. She's also very cute
and curvy -- very talented young lady.

I also like that she has curves. I think that made her a good match
for Emmitt, but it also shows you don't need to look like Edyta, or
knees-bent-backward Karina, to be hot and be able to dance the shorts
off everyone else.

I wanted Emmitt to win because 1) I was impressed by how far he had
come in the competition and 2) hey, I live in Dallas and most of us
love Emmitt here. But I didn't want him to win enough to ever
actually pick up a phone and vote and......... I really did think that
Mario was the better dancer.

I was actually surprised when Emmitt and Cheryl's names were announced
as the winners.

When the judges weasled out of any input by throwing perfect scores
around like they did at the end, the event basically became a
popularity contest.
Let's see - "World Known NFL Legend, 3-time Super Bowl Champion and
Future Football Hall of Famer" vs "C-Grade Former Child Actor and
Animal Planet Pet Show Host". hmmmm..

It's always a popularity contest. The way the judges scores and the
call-in votes are weighted (Equally at first, but ties go to the
higher call-in number) means that the call-ins effectively outweigh
the judges. Hence, popularity contest.

Look, Mario was a far, far better dancer, and though Emmitt's partner
Cheryl is a great pro, Mario's partner Karina was even better. The
judges always patronized Emmitt, and he is fun to watch and not
half-bad for a retired running back, much better than Jerry Rice last
year - but remember, even Rice made it to the finals. Both Emmitt and
Mario were unfailingly sweet and modest during the competition. But
really, what does it matter? Good clean fun was had by all.
