Ever since I've heard my state was replacing paper ballots with
electronic computers (2003), I've thought it was a bad idea. I'm glad
to see this documentary released. I see this as a solution:
- Turn over the programming of these machines to Defense contractors
working for the government. They have the know-how to design
hacker-proof software (instead of Mickeysoft hackable software like
diebold creates).
- Require every machine is equipped with a printer, and that said
printer must print a piece-of-paper recording each voter's ballot.
Those ballots would be collected by poll-workers & could be used for
independent verification by hand-counting.
SOLUTION #2:
- Forget using computers. Go back to the old style paper ballots,
which can not be hacked by programmers. In Maryland we used to have a
simple "draw a line" next to the candidate you wanted. If was simple,
effective, and worked.

I agree! Why don't we do an all mail-in election like Oregon.
Everything is ballots and everything is mailed in so there are no
polling places, no scanners, no touchscreens, etc. It would make it a
lot easier to keep things above-board.

Mail-in ballots can be wreaked with problems also.

True, but the activists have been so paranoid of the machines, that
it'd be easier and cheaper for the state to go to mail in voting.

Hopefully you wont need to subscribe to see this:
How the rapid growth of absentee voting is changing elections, and not
necessarily for the better.
