Is it just me or does that KFC Bowl thing seem like a gross idea?
me...
|
Why, it all goes to the same place anyway ;)

Anthony D. Langford...

Everytime I see a commercial for it, I imagine that it just can't taste
good. So yes, it seems gross to me.
coley...

actually its not bad at all, other then that i don't like KFC's frozen
corn...... but it doesn't taste bad at all..... i have been craving one for
days now..

The cheese is the only thing that bothers me.
Obveeus...
|
Ah, the power of cheese.
Brandy Alexandre...

Cheese is life. Everything is better with cheese. Except that, or
course.

ravenlynne...

I adore cheese. I abhor artificial fake cheese mixed into to
everything...

It's looks hellishly gross, yes.

I don't mind casseroles and stir fried rice bowl meals, but the KFC one
is a bit too much.
deering24...
|
Yeah, what is the point of this? I can't recall a single casserole
recipe that this could be based on...

I think the idea is "this way you don't have to make up your mind!"
which I assume is also the reasoning behind that 3 way split bucket that
doesn't hold any appeal for me.
deering24...
|
The split bucket makes sense, especially if you have folks who prefer
one kind of chicken. But the ingredients in the KFC bowl don't seem
to go together taste-wise. It's like a kid mushing all his fav foods
together on her plate or something...

Somewhere in America, Sandra Lee is thinking to herself "_I_ can make this
myself!".

The split bucket makes sense if you had more choices about what went in
it. But it's like real chicken, popcorn chicken, and something else I
don't want . . . maybe strips?
Besides which, KFC *always* gets your order wrong, anyway.

The Army used to serve a similar dish a long time ago. We didn't like it.

Yeah, real gross.

Not to mention the thing contains more calories and sodium than a
person should consume in a whole day.

Taco Bell has had a similar item for awhile now. It has beans, rice,
chicken, lettuce and some tortilla strips on top. One of the few things
I like anymore at the Bell.

Completely. I rarely eat KFC anyway, but I would certainly never order
that.

Ronnie Bateman...

Totally agree. The first time I saw a commercial for it, I thought
it was a gag, and that the description was supposed to be "gross" to
set up a pitch for something more appealing in contrast. No such
luck.

I think the concept was meant for the kind if person that appreciates
Brandy Alexandre...

Oh, I appreciate sheppard's pie--my Brit made it for me. That ain't no
sheppard's pie.
|
sheppard's pie.
suzee...
|
But sheppard's pie has the potatoes on top, not all gooey from
everything else on top of it. Quite different.
Obveeus...
|
When are mashed potatoes not 'gooey'?
I never liked KFC mashed potatoes. They have no flavor or texture other
than ground up chalk/paste. The 'gravy' is horrible and would destroy the
flavor of everything in the bowl, IMO. That is why I never even considered
trying it.
On the other hand, if they chucked the mashed potatoes and gravy and,
instead, put a bunch of that macaroni and cheese they have into the bowl
with the chicken and corn; that I would try.

Brandy Alexandre...

Agreed. You have to figure that when the food in commercials is as
appealing looking as it will ever get, when it looks that revolting in
the ad, you want to stay far, far away from it.

Shepherd's pie? Maybe after it's been through your stomach, one way or
the other.
But then their demo isn't exactly The Food Network

It looks good to me -- except for the meat part.
