The Space Boss...
The tragedy *almost* of all family oriented sitcoms, you name it, from
the "Brady Bunch" to "Home Improvement" is that the kids grow up, and
the show rarely survives. Fans of "Bernie Mac", beware... this show is

I suggested it as an example of a sitcom that survived. Not that it was

As kids get older what made them interesting,
funny, charming etc. seems to disappear.

In some shows it is really glaring. "The Wonder
Years" is a good example. When the show started
Kevin was in junior high school (what is called
middle school these days). He had an innocent sense of wonder and
discovery about himself and
the world around him that clicked with viewers.

When he got into high school that was gone and he
became just another teenager with an attitude.
The "wonder" was gone.

tailor made to fall under this curse. SURE they might be able to string
it along for a few more years as Bernie and the wife have a biological
child or children, jordan moving up to big brother position, etc., but
by then the show will have jumped the shark. One show which - amazingly
- has managed to survive is "Malcolm in the Middle".

Tony Calguire...
Bernie Mac won't last the season, let alone last long enough to see
"Bebegurl" go off to junior high. This show is the very definition of
the word "languishing". It has been completely abandoned by Fox to the
Friday night graveyard, kinda like Malcolm was earlier in the season,
but unlike Malcolm, Fox won't care enough to give the show a proper
sendoff. The much-heralded 100th episode barely registered in the
ratings.

That's what Fox gets for firing the creator. "NO MORE POIGNANCY!"

One show I can think of that may fly under the radar of this "curse" is
"Yes Dear". This show is really about the adults, the kids aren't
really a huge part of the show, character wise, they're just "there".
They should just keep replacing the kids with younger actors.

And if you haven't guessed where this is going, this is the very reason
that shows like THE SIMPSONS and KING OF THE HILL have lasted so long:
the kids never grow up, so the show could - theoretically - go on for
eternity.

Taylor...
Bernie Mac has only been on 5 years or less but feels like (accentuate
"feels") a 5 year run max series.
