At the beginning, I thought I heard that PYL started in 1981, but
according to my "Total Television" book (Alex McNeil) the show ran from
19 Sept. 1983 - 26 Sept. 1986.
If it were not for the book, I would not have any personal knowledge of
specific dates other than the early '80's or so. I used to watch PYL
as much as I could, but I was in college at the time, and only able to
watch on holidays, summers, or if I had only afternoon classes, and
most of the time, my classes were the entire day.
So assuming I heard correctly, who is right; Alex McNeil or CBS?

As for Gameshow Marathon, the PYL version was definitely the best one
so far...no surprise to me.
Kathy Najimy and Tim Meadows really battled it out in the second
round...just like the way two "ordinary" contestants did back in the
day. Too bad (but no surprise) Leslie Neilsen "Whammied out" or
whatever the term is.
I'll watch Card Sharks, but the next one I'm really looking forward to
is Match Game on June 22nd. I'm only speculating, but I wouldn't be
surprised if Gilbert Gottfried will be one of the panelists...if so its
sure to be a real "hoot"! ;)

The "Match Game" panelists will be Adam Carolla, Adrianne Curry,
George Foreman, Kathy Griffin, Bruce Vilanch and Betty White.

Okay, at least that explains why they were all in the audience night one

Now that I think of it, was GG ever a panelist on the original MG
'73-'79??

Nope, Gilbert was nobody until joining the cast of SNL in 1980, and
then for several years afterward :)
