CNN is terribly annoying with all the hissing, cymbal crashing, whooshing
transitional graphics they are using. Simple switching from one scene to the
next is a lost art, nowadays even simple scene transitions have to be made
so noisy and complex. And this is on top of all the other migraine inducing
swimmy graphics. Are we that inattentive that all this Pavlovian auditory
mildew is needed to get viewers to look at the Tee vee?

CNBC does the same thing. Pac-man type sound effects and the rest. It's
caused me to flip the channel on more than one occasion.

It's an attempt to compete with Fox News Channel which has used
special effects for a number of years. Imitation is the sincerest
form of flattery.
