This is a joke, right? I barely got through 30 seconds of that tripe
before switching away.

Like Married with Children.

I wonder where that leaves me. I like Earl in general and the Cops ep had
it's moments but I wouldn't call it one of the better ones. Mimi as a cop
was just too Mimi. I liked the other lazy cop better.

BTW, are you now or have you ever been a fan (or at least drinking
game groupie) of the show "Cops" 'cause if you haven't, you might be
a little behind on the drinking game cliches regarding Cops that the
Earl episode skewers.

I'm familiar with it. While it is passable fare and a bit of a guilty
pleasure I don't plan my evening around watching it. I'm too old for
drinking games but I am aware of the Cops clichés.
Let me be clear - I did like the episode but I wouldn't call it one their
best. For a superior show it was an average episode - for me at least.

As for the NBC four show block I think I'm one of the few who likes all
four. Scrubs has to be the most underrated show on the air. The Office

Me too! I just think they need to be aired in reverse order, with 30
Rock starting off the night and Earl finishing the night.

started out rough but it has improved steadily. 30 Rock seems to be doing
the same. Earl and Scrubs were great out of the starting block.

I'm hoping that since he wrote and guest-starred in the episode, this
means that Tim Stack is going to become at least a semi-regular on
Earl.

I may have to look at the Office again. Didn't care for it much last year.

And Mimi from the Drew Carey Show - priceless.

Yeah, I only got to see the first 10 minutes of it on my break at work
and it was hilarious! Wished I'd taped it so I could have seen all of
it. Have to catch it next time around.

I caught what I initially thought was a continuity problem with it
though: Crabman. As we all know he's a college educated man in the
witness protection program and not from that town. Unless he convinced
Rob Jensen...

Just because he's college educated and in the witness protection
program doesn't mean that he wasn't dropped back into his hometown,
just a different part of it than he's in now. I mean, we're talking
about a show in which pretty much everybody is incompetent, including
the cops, so why shouldn't the show's version of the witness
protection program be any different?

Didn't the agents who dropped him off also seemed rather blaise about his
questions? Ususally they set up a more proscribed documentation and liscening
for thier WPP folks.

the old lady that he was her grandson and was just acting as a
stereotypical young black man by growing illicit substances.

The old lady said she'd just moved to this town. And in the Y2K
episode, Darnell had just been dropped off in town by the WPP. The
Cops episode is set in 2003. So Crabman would have been in town for
three years at that point. Besides who says that college educated men
can't grow pot in their pretend mothers' homes? In fact, the Cops
episode also makes it clear that Darnell had already fathered Earl Jr.
at this point. Which reminds me of

We did too; I mentioned it my husband and we decided just to ignore it and
laugh. When the crabman's hair was sticking up out of the mulch pile and
Mimi used the leaf blower to blow the mulch away I couldn't top laughing.

But yes, the episode was funny...loved Randy falling out of the tree
like a tranquilized bear.
