Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann in the television series "Gilligan's
Island," will star in a Florida production of Gilligan's Island: The
Musical as the millionaire's wife, Mrs. Howell, a.k.a. "Lovey," Variety
has reported.

Congratulations! You finally posted something on-topic here!

Barry Williams =97 who played Greg Brady on "The Brady Bunch," which was
created by "Gilligan" creator Sherwood Schwartz =97 will star as her
husband, Mr. Howell, "the millionaire."

OMG. Talk about miscasting! If anything, Williams should be playing
the Professor!

et472...
Of course, he's getting up there in years. Indeed, if you do the math,
Barry Williams is 52 this year, and Jim Backus was 49 when Gilligan's
Island started in 1962 (based on birthdays at IMDB).

But somehow then Jim Backus came across as older, and not merely
because I was so young when the series was on.

Barry Williams would fit the Professor role best. I sure can't
see him as Gilligan, and I can't see him as the Skipper either.

Well, there goes any hopes of it being good...

22 songs sounds more like an opera than a musical.

Ubiquitous...
Will the Shakespeare one be included?

Anim8rFSK...
Ha!

Is it to be, or not to be
That is the question that I ask of me

Gilligan's Island: The Musical has already played in various cities
around the country during the last five years. This production will play
the Tennessee Williams Theatre in Key West, FL, on Jan. 19 and 20, 2007,
and the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Coral Springs, FL, from
Feb. 2-11.

The musical's book was written by Schwartz, along with his son Lloyd
Schwartz, who produced "The Brady Bunch Movie," among other films, and
has written and produced several "Gilligan's Island"- and "Brady
Bunch"-related television movies.

The 22 original songs are by Schwartz's daughter and son-in-law, Hope
and Lawrence Juber. Hope guest-starred on "The Brady Bunch," and
Lawrence is a composer and guitarist who was a member of Paul
McCartney's band Wings.
The television series "Gilligan's Island" ran from 1964 to 1967, and its
legend has stayed alive via constant reruns, three television movies,
two cartoon series and the TBS reality show "The Real Gilligan's
Island."
