Is the following an urban legend, or did it really happen? Anyone know
for sure?
"Late night legend, David Letterman, interviewed billionaire
Donald Trump not long ago on The David Letterman show. Letterman asked
Donald Trump what he would do if he lost everything and had to start
over from scratch. Trump's response was that he would find a great
network marketing company and get to work. When he received some hisses
and boos from the audience, he looked out at them with complete and
total authority and responded, "That's why I'm sitting up here and you
are all sitting out there!"

Actually, that interview happened on the Today show with Matt Lauer. I
saw it in December 1999, and I was shocked when I heard the words "I'd
go into network marketing" come from Trump's mouth.
Matt Lauer looked slightly angry, as if he thought it was a lousy joke.
I think that's what Trump intended it to be - a joke. But it did not
work.

It hasn't shown up there before, says groups Search -- the
major references to the DT is for the "flat tire" UL (which is also
told about Mrs. Nat King Cole).
