CBS renews 'King of Queens,' 'Close to Home'

CBS is joining the pickup parade, adding at least four new dramas and
a couple comedies to its roster.
Net's not talking, but insiders Monday said the net gave a thumbs up
to dramas "Jericho," "Smith, "Waterfront" and the untitled Peter Ocko
project (formerly "3 lbs.")

On the comedy front, "The Class" has been greenlit, while an Adam
SandlerAdam Sandler-produced half-hour from Tom Hertz has landed a
midseason order.

Eye also gave good news to some bubble shows, ordering 13 episodes of
"King of Queens""King Of Queens" and second seasons of crime drama

Feels like another "Yes Dear" renewal.

David...
Apparently Kevin James is committed to a movie in the Fall so this is
the best they could do. But the ratings are strong enough where they
probably wanted it back for a full season.

Jude Cormier...
He and Ray Romano have a movie called "Grilled" coming out on DVD very soon.

David...
He's co-starring in an Adam Sandler movie that'll film in the Fall.

Alex W...
He must have really thought that KOQ wasn't coming back then to schedule
himself in a movie that shoots in the fall.

will probably give the writers a chance to do a proper series finale.
Perhaps a predictable--"we're finally pregnant" storyline.

"Close to Home" and laffer "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

It's likely CBS will pick up a few more shows before its
upfrontupfront announcement Wednesday.

While "Smith" is a crime drama, rest of Eye's drama pickups are less
blood-stained.

"Waterfront" is a family/political sudsersudser starring Joe
PantolianoJoe Pantoliano and William Baldwin. Ocko show is a medical
hour, while "Jericho" tells the story of a town that survives an
apocalyptic event.
