24" star Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) has announced on a popular

Jeffrey Kaplan...
He's only two feet tall? :)

zaryzary2003...
Yes. The movie will be a 24-Lord of the Rings crossover, with CTU
staffed entirely by hobbits.

Curt Cassingham...
Yeah, and they can use the Stonehenge props from "This Is Spinal Tap".

Jeffrey Kaplan...
The last one staffed there died.

British TV program that a full feature '24' movie will be filmed in
the UK.

Sutherland was interviewed on the 'Jonathan Ross' program on the BBC
network.

"We're working on that, we'll shoot the film here," answered
Sutherland when Ross asked if there were plans for a movie.

Sutherland went on to say, "We're really excited about it. In the US
'24' was slow to catch on, but in the UK it was big so Fox stuck

Brett A. Pasternack...
Have you seen the ratings for season 1?

JoettaB...
It was shown only in the US for season 1 and wouldn't have been renewed or
won awards if the ratings weren't good. The UK wasn't even in the picture
until a year later. The US was viewing season 2 while the UK viewed season
1.

Brett A. Pasternack...
No, he's saying that Fox would not have renewed it for another season if
not for the show's success in the UK.

I'm not sure if that's true, exactly, but certainly overseas sales are a
big part of the picture for any action show.

David...
Well that part's true. The first season did horribly and it's to FOX's
credit that they stuck with it. The 2nd season it was put after "Idol"
and had one of the worst post-"Idol" retention rates. It wasn't until
FOX moved it to Monday and aired it rerun-free that it took off.

with it, so thank you Britain."

The Kiefer Sutherland interview can be seen on the Jonathan Ross show
on Friday evening.

JoettaB...
You know... what Kiefer says here really bothers me... "In the US '24' was
slow to catch on, but in the UK it was big so Fox stuck with it, so thank
you Britain." I don't mind him thanking his/their UK fans at all. In fact, I
think he should, but this statement sort of insults US fans, if you ask me.

JP...
I sensed that Kiefer only said it to please the UK fans and viewers of the
Jonathan Ross show; it gave him the chance to say thanks to all the fans
here in UK.

First and second seasons of 24 were first shown on BBC a year after the US
airings; Sky One picked up from season 3 after BBC lost the bid.

I mean... think about it... the US is what made the first season a success
since it wasn't even shown in the UK the first season, and if the first
season hadn't been a success, there wouldn't have been any more seasons.
Plus, the show is made in the US (in CA), based in the US (LA in the
fictional sense), and funded by a US company (FOX). With 49 states (or 48 if
you count the itty bitty S5 prequel in Chicago) and countless cities in the
US... not to mention a pretty decent portion of the cast, crew, etc. being
Canadian citizens... I just wonder why the UK? Maybe if the state of TX and
OH stop watching, it will wipe out all of the numbers coming in out of the
UK.
