Was Amazing Race cancelled by the Game Show Network? It hasn't been on for
a while.

Season 1 had interesting tasks but you'll see that the show, being
brand-new, still had some rough edges: the clues were given by yellow
flags instead of the red-gold clue boxes they use now; they hadn't
invented that frenetic musical score yet; and the clues were more
cryptic than later seasons, requiring the racers to slow down and think.
Some fans liked it that way, some didn't.

Actually, those differences do sound interesting. I think there are way too many
opportunities for teams way behind to catch up the way they run it now. I'm sure
it makes for easier production and a closer episodes (and a finale)when everyone
is within a few hours of each other but your description of Season One sounds
like it would make a much better race.

Season One is very, very good. There are some personable contestants,
and the show hadn't yet perfected the concept of "catch-up points".

10pm and 11pm on Saturday nights. They went through the whole series
several times so not surprising that it was cut back.
