It was all over about the American skiier who DQ'd for the 5th
consecutive time. On CNBC, right after the curling, they had a show
about how much sponsorship money he might lose because of it. Then,
switching to NBC for Olympics, natch, they are going to show the
skiiing, with that skiier as "the favorite to win the Gold." I just
turned it off and played nethack on the comuter for a couple of hours
at that point.

Heh. This is why having CBC rules... except for the part where they're
obsessing over Canadian athletes.

The obsessing over Canadian athletes isn't too bad... until one of them
beats an American. Then, it gets a bit over the top.

That's another reason? I thought that was the *primary* reason.
I'll watch the NBC coverage for events that aren't widely reported, or
if there's really nothing else on, or even to see a good performance
even if I know the outcome already, but it does get pretty
anti-climactic. Usually I know the general results but not the exact
details, though. "Wait, is this the one where he falls, or is it the
next one?" You can make a game out of it!
