I didn't care for this at all. The writing was weak, the characters were
weak, the acting was weak, ... and you get the idea. I have to admit up
front that I've never been much of an Aquaman fan. There just wasn't

You're not the only one.
Aquaman was never a popular superhero; AFAIK he never got his own comic
book.
Let's face it, a guy who can live in the ocean and ask fish to do things
isn't all that interesting anymore.

Yet oddly Marvel's version of essentially the same charactor, the
Sub-mariner never suffered from the same dorky image problem and is

Because given the choice, people prefer an asshole to a dork?

Actually that pretty well does sum up the difference between Aquaman &
Sub-mariner. Submariner was angry and mean. Aquaman, not so much.

Also pretty much sums up the difference between Marvel and DC, even back
in the 50s.
I ask this every so often: Anybody remember Amazing Man?

They made Aquaman mean and angry in the recent animated Justice League
episodes.

Aquman's been mean and angry ever since his kid died, his wife went
insane and left the dimension, and pirahna ate his hand.

Still had his wife in the cartoon, but couldn't tell if she was more
insane then most wives...

anything redeeming in this at all for me and it made me feel like I wasted
41 minutes of my life. I wasn't entertained at all. Your mileage may vary.
I'm surprised the script submitted was even approved for pilot. I'm guessing
if it hadn't come from the Smallville people, it never would have been.

I was somewhat entertained by the show, but I couldn't help but wonder
where they were going to go with it. It's tied to the ocean and
there's going to be some sort of war going on but it will be a secret
war with the Aquaman character hiding his abilities from the humans.
The concept seems limiting. It might have worked great for a
mini-series, but I think it would not have done well as a series.
Probably a good thing the CW didn't pick it up as even better writing
and acting wouldn't have saved the show.
