Does anyone involved NOT look embarrassed to be on this turkey. Everyone looks
like they would rather be anywhere else.

MOTHER OF GOD!
"game show marathon" may be the single worst tv program ever produced
SyVyN11...
|
it's a tie between this and Celebrity Cooking showdown.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Bailey Legull...
|
Did you miss that "Celebrity Cooking Showdown" that aired a month or
two back? It was comparable. You couldn't watch more than five
minutes unless you were physically tied to your chair. Definitely new
lows in TV production.
Meanwhile, what were these folks thinking? Ten minutes of game show
history, ten minutes of B-list celeb bios, then ten minutes of Ricki
and said "celebs" chatting. I shut it off, and I *still* don't know if
they ever gave anything away.
|
it's really really odd
they have all these 'celebrities' in the audience
but apparently they're only going to pick the same lame 6 every night
adam corolla got up and walked out in disgust
seapig...
|
I'm pretty sure that was just schtick.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Whatever, it was the highlight of the show!
seapig...
|
I suspect that none of the "other" celebrities were really in the
audience. I never saw any of them in a wide shot, and it seems like a
waste of their time to come in just to sit in the audience. It was
kind of frustrating to see them, though, because they were a more
interesting batch of personalities than the celebrities who actually

In that case, tune in for "Match Game" on June 22. All of them will
be panelists. (That's why they were there.)
Incidentally, tonight's show ("Let's Make a Deal") was much, much
better than last night's debacle.
Jude Cormier...
|
Yes, it sure was! With the exception of Lance Bass......LOL

participated.
BillBo...
|
True. And they probably wanted more money to participate then the lack luster
bunch picked. Who is the cow with the broken foot?
seapig...
|
Kathy Najimy, probably best known for the "Sister Act" movies (which
were at least ten years ago, kind of indicative of the level of
"celebrities" they've got on this thing). She's also the voice of
Peggy on "King of the Hill." I thought she looked like she could have
been Ricki Lake's older sister.
|
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
LOL!
Kathy Najimy, actress, although I've only ever seen her in one thing, Hocus
Pocus. She did play a hippo in Cat's Don't Dance though.

Patrick Joseph Mc Namara...

He might simply have been going to the washroom--to throw up.
ANIM8Rfsk...

True, and reasonable, although they never showed him again . ..
Jude Cormier...

|
tonight they did price is right, but clearly no one from the actually show
was involved
seapig...
|
I don't know about the behind-the-scenes folks, but the announcer and
models were from the show.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Really? That's their current announcer? He's AWFUL.
seapig...
|
I agree. Unfortunately, Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy aren't available.
|
|
|
and ricki lake kept getting stuff wrong
kept saying everybody that played would be in the showcase showdown
when of course only 2 of them were

The "Showcase Showdown" is the spinning of the wheel to determine which
Jude Cormier...
|
It so made me mad that I didn't have GSN when they reran the 1/2 hour TPIRs
SyVyN11...
|
was it the 70's verison or the far better 80's with Tom Kennedy?
Jude Cormier...
|
I'm talking the original daytime 1/2 hour with Bob Barker. I would also love
to see the Dennis James and Tom Kennedy versions again as well.
SyVyN11...
|
any half hour with either Barker or James won't be showned. Barker wrote
into a contract a long time ago to have those shows NEVER be rebroadcasted.
Since that was the time they will still doing furs and before Barker got
involved in animal rights, and thought it wouldn't be right to show those
eps.
I have seen Kennedy's TPiR every now and then on GSN.
Jude Cormier...
|
Episodes without fur prizes have been shown on GSN and on CBS in recent
years during holidays and such.
And by the time Barker goes on to the big showcase in the sky, some legal
loophole will be found and those episodes will see the light again.

two play for the showcases - everyone who played, who got on stage, was
in the Showcase Showdown.
seerialmom...

ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Nope. None of the men got to spin the wheel. They just sat in the audience
with cotton candy, because of that weird "tie" rule -- if it's a tie, you
can choose to spin again, with NO possible benefit except to knock the other
person out, or you can just go on to the showcase.
seapig...
|
The men didn't spin the wheel because none of them made it out of
contestant's row; it had nothing to do with the "tie" rule. The tie
thing happened because, with only one showcase showdown, the top two
went to the showcase instead of just the best score. There was no need
for a spin-off, because both of them were going to the showcase
regardless.
seerialmom...
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Well why did Rikki ask Brandi if she wanted to spin again then? What would
have been the point?
seapig...
|
I think it was just a formality - she was entitled to a second spin if
she wanted one. Bob Barker always asks ("You don't want to spin again,
do you?") when somebody has wrapped up a spot in the showcase after one
spin. It's not exactly the same, because there's a bonus prize for
getting exactly $1 in the regular show that I don't think was in play
last night, but, even then, I've never seen anybody take their second
spin in that situation.
I'm not 100% sure about this, because I was confused by Ricki Lake's
explanation last night. She made it sound like there would be a
spin-off between Kathy and Paige, if Brandi beat them both. That
didn't make sense to me, because Kathy already beat Paige the first
time around. Maybe the plan was to have the 2nd and 3rd place
finishers spin-off, whether they tied or not, but it wasn't made clear,
and it would have made for more wheel-spinning than we really need to
see.
|
seerialmom...
|
To try and make it an even $1.00; but it seems to me if she exceeded
$1.00 then Paige with her .10=A2 would have been brought back and Brandi
would have been out.
|
|
|
|
|
and they made the very big mistake of starting the show with a montage of
REAL price is right, which just made this look that much worse
The high point? The old clips showed Anitra Ford
Anitra Ford . . .
seapig...
|
I think the high point was the return of the bikini - I don't think
they've had the models in bikinis since Dian Parkinson was in her prime.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
I loved that big block print nini dress! I swear Gwen Stacy wore that in
Spider-Man in the 70s!
|
BillBo...
|
I stopped watching TPIR soon after she was fired.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Dian and Anitra were the shows peaks.
BillBo...
|
Sadly Dian would not make it today. Not anorexic enough.
|
Jude Cormier...
|
Anitra Ford was hot! And I loved in the first TV movie pilot for "Wonder
Woman"
(yep the ultra cheesy campy Cathy Lee Crosby version)

SyVyN11...

Here's how I would change this.
1. NO RICKI LAKE (nuff said)
2. Change the lineup of shows. Keep Match Game, Press Your Luck, Card
Sharks. Add Super Password, Now You See It, Concentration and Scrabble
(chuck woolery verison). And at the end of the show do The Price is Right
Showcase.
3 NO CELEBRITIES, except when nesscarry for the game (MG, SP)!!! Just
normal people in the studio audiance.
4. Two classic games each hour. At the begining of the half hour get
the number of contestants you need from the audiance and announce what the
game is. Play thru the game and bonus rounds. The winner moves on to
The Price is Right Showcase.
And that is how I'll would do it. Give back a little feedback.
Jude Cormier...

interesting premise!
much better than how it was played last night

And after just reading the review on TPiR, I agree. Good Lord, was
that a mess!
