At the end of this episode, SG-1 and the Odessy recovered several dozen
stargates from Baal. How will the SGc know which stargates to return to
which planets? Will the Lucian Alliance get its stolen stargate back?

The stargates are not tied to the planet. If you drop a gate on a planet,
you can dial to it using that planet's address. So it really doesn't matter
which gate goes where.

They may be able to go by the symbols on the gate. Didn't the second Earth
gate (which was actually the first, but I won't go into that) have something
different on it?

The point of origin symbol. It doesn't make a great deal of sense, but it
does mean that all stargates are unique - there's one symbol on each gate
that is on no other gate. *

Perhaps the unique symbol on the gate is also in the same position on
the DHD! Thus explaining how no matter what world SG-1 visits, they
pv+usenet...

have always been able to dial home. And also how in the S2 opener
Daniel was able to use Earth's point of origin as a reference and dial
the Alpha Site. All he had to do is dial the 1st 6 symbols, then hit
the POO key and hit Enter!
