Is Dane Cook's audience paid to laugh?

Just caught a few tragic minutes of this guy's HBO spot and he's pretty much
the unfunniest person I've ever seen. How did he get this far? I would not
be at all surprised if they pay people to come and scream in laughter like
that. How else would they be laughing like that?! Seriously!

Where the hell is the...

Only thing I can figure ..is that he has some photos and videos .. of
the producers
and directors .in certain situational situations ......Locked in the
safe for now ....

I can think of two reasons: (1) they are laughing at his delivery,
not the unfunny material, (2) he is the "it" boy for the college-
age set right now, so if you don't laugh hysterically, you don't
fit in or "get it". All of these kids are in denial.

There could be a third reason: These people actually do find him
funny. Humor isn't universal you know.

I find him funny for my reason (1). But it's hit & miss.

Slayah...

I found his delivery contrived and deliberately manic. And every once in a
while when some girls would scream, he'd get this look in his eyes like
"ohhhhhhh yeah, I am SO all THAT!" And the way he fake laughs at his own
"jokes" filled me with such disdain. Maybe I'm just jealous that I can't
make tons of money by not being funny.
