Did the writers get a bit too cute tonight with this episode?

wunnuy...
Cute with the plotline? I thought they were just making it up as they
went along. Since when did that show ever have a plotline?

I got a flashback to St Elsewhere where the show was in a autistic
childs mind.

Now this series. Hurley was in a mental institution along with Libby.
Hurley for some reason holds the key to the island with those really
cursed numbers.

BreadWithSpam...
What are the odds?

The odds that Saywer met Jack's father.
The odds that Locke inspected Nadia's house.
The odds that Locke worked for a company owned by Hurley.
etc. etc.

The list of such bizarre 'coincidences' is huge - it's much
of the point of the show, no?

In an odd way this series makes sense that it takes place in a mentally
unbalanced mind. It explains a lot.
The Others I assume will turn out to be a doctor.

I think the writers have gotten way too cute with this. If this really
is an a mind of a mentally unbalanced mind then tonight they gave the
ending away.

Steven L....
The fact that they portrayed it that way makes it almost a certainty
that it's NOT the ending.

If anything, tonite's episode was a way to *dispose* of the theory that
"it's all a delusion". The writers are telling the fans, "See? This is

PuddinTame...
Not so fast with that "dispose of" business. The last scene could
indicate that everything is indeed all going on in Hurley's mind and
that Libby is also there enabling/sharing his delusion.

what you thought, and now that we've disposed of it, let's get back to
the real plot."

The odds that Hurley and Libby were both institutionalized then both
took the exact same plane ride from Australia is extremely remote. (I
think the plane was from Australia).

Brian Thorn...
Not if that was deliberate. Libby could very well be following Hurley,
perhaps because he won the lottery.

bllbickel...
Or she was stalking him, which actually makes her current "sudden"
attraction to him somewhat logical.

Anthony Cerrato...
That is why this was just a perfect epi -- the options
raised just cover the gamut of possibilities (or perhaps we
should say, actual many-worlds in the quantum theory sense!)
Maybe the whole thing is STILL taking place in Hurleys's
mind--or better, in HER mind...or maybe in Hurley's
imaginary friend's mind! :)))
I just loved how they presented all the possible scenarios
we couldn't guess before...still holding out the possibility
that none of them are true! Great stuff!

Meg...
I think Libby is stalking him for some reason. All the comments about
"chicks like her don't go for guys like him were a big hint.." She's up
to something. Why didn't she tell him where he knows her from?

I assume we will see flashbacks of Libby soon and what her problem was..

I hope it doesn't prove that these are all mental patients placed on an
island being run by doctors ie an experiment on mental illness or. Or
all in one persons mind.

Captain Infinity...
I think it's all an experiment in *your* mind, Dan. oooOOOOOOoooooh!

My bet: island is an experiment holding the criminally insane. Or maybe
not.

Captain Infinity...
Well that's a great way to cover your bets. YOU WIN!

If it copies St Elsewhere I will be totally annoyed.

weberm...
"If"? "_IF_"?!?!?!

They totally pegged an explaination for nearly _everything_ that has
hapened to them so far.

Eric Ramon...
I thought you'd stopped watching it. Guess you're masochistic.

weberm...
Nah -- I heard it had improved and I had nothing better to do.

Unless tonights ending was a ruse?

ARGHHHH so confused.

Ken from Chicago...
They've shown repeatedly that the survivors have pre-island links:
