A caddy for remote controls

I counted up the remote controls in my living room, and there are
EIGHT of them! Anyone have an idea for a nice way to keep them all
together and accessible? Right now I have a circular basket, but it

Buy a Universal Remote with a "learn" feature that will enable you to
control all your devices.
I own the RCA RCU900 Universal Remote, and I'm pretty happy with it. It
learned every function of my other remotes and now it's the only one I need.

doesn't look very nice and the remotes tend to lean on each other,
sending out stray signals and draining their batteries.
Suggestions? I'm thinking of some sort of thing that would let them
stand upright in slots -- maybe something that was originally
designed for a quite different purpose.
Background:
My universal remote (Radio Shack 15-1994) has failed: the other keys
still work, but the Power key usually doesn't. (Sometimes pressing it
really really firmly makes it work, but not always.)
Even with that remote, I still needed four others: DVD player, DVD
recorder, stereo receiver, and CD player. It won't control them at
all, and it does only some of the functions of the cable-box and TV
remotes, even with the "learning" function. So it seems simpler just
timeOday...

That's interesting, it can't learn some of the signals?
