pv+usenet...
3.0. Half a point of that is because I had forgotten how cool ELO was. *

Tony Calguire...
Oh my, that was awful. I loved every minute of it, but I still recognize
that it was awful.

I don't really understand why I liked it so much; perhaps it's because they
did every awful bit to comic perfection.

And it's true what they say... you can ALWAYS do with a bit of ELO.

5 stars (Jill & Joe Young)

0-1 stars (Ann Darrow & King Kong)

John Reiher...
I'll be the first to give it a 5. I absolutely loved it. How many times
do we ever get to see what happens to the people who interact with the
Doctor?

Sure, it was corny, but I take that as being from the perspective of the
POV character, Elton, who's grasp on reality is... fluid. I mean, his
girlfriend is a paving tile...

Garondo Marondo...
You would think he would put her in some kind of padded frame in case
she falls and breaks, yes?

I guess Piper and Tennant got some free time when this episode was film
since they barely appeared.

..
Garondo Marondo!

Tim Bruening...
I give the ending (a man getting blow jobs from a paving tile) a bizarre rating of 5
out of 5.

pbowles...
4, just to be contrary - if it wasn't so roundly hated, 3 (or 3.5, but
I don't give .5s on principle). True, the ending was a bit heavy-handed
in a blatant "If you haven't got what I'm trying to do with the series
by now, here it is in so many words" sort of way, but the episode as a
whole is a good showcase for a number of RTD's themes, and scores marks
for actually making Jackie sympathetic. Not as clever as I thought on
first viewing, but still a likeable episode which actually makes story
use its 'outsider's perspective' plot device rather than just using it
as a gimmick as B5 and Buffy did.

Lisa Coulter...
I agree. Yes - it was corny, sad, a bit yucky, but - I kind of liked
it.

And again, the theme of mortality vs long life/ immortality - the girl
will never age, what happens long term?

4 stars (marked up a bit since some are marking it down.)

marcovaldo...
4.2 stars. Perhaps the most original, creative episode of the series. I
had to take away some points for leaving poor sweet Ursula trapped in a
tile.

Teh Wraith O Smeg...
I can't say anything nice. So I'm gonna be quiet about this one.

David B...
So it didn't mean blow jobs?

Minus a zillion, Alice and Ro-Man

Bleah, what a fetid waste of 45 irreplacable minutes
of my remaining lifespan.

As a concept, the episode had promise, but they wasted
every single bit of it. Yeccch.
