In past years, every Olympic telecast has opened with majestic views of
the host city, accompanied by the soaring trumpets of the Olympic theme.
Either I keep missing it, or they're not doing that this year. Shame if
they aren't, because I always thought it was a nice way to showcase the
area's scenic wonders and get in the mood for the show.
I did notice they're doing something kinda like it, but they're talking
and showing sponsor logos over the music and scenery. Not quite the same...

The "something kinda like it" seems exactly like it to me.. they're not
always showing sponsor logos over it. They're sometimes talking over
it, but it seems like they've always done that.

And is anyone else a little annoyed at the constant jumping between
events? First it's a little of one thing, then something else, then
something else, then it's back to the first thing, etc. , so that
instead of getting a chance to really watch an event you're forced to
sit through a bunch of other stuff to see the whole thing.

Just Tivo/record it and FF through the boring parts. Based upon what
events are each day, I'm "watching" 5-ish hours in 2-3.5 hours or so..
(I've been recording the 4-5 and then prime time NBC stuff.. checking
the listings but so far there haven't been good things on other
channels yet.. just lots of hockey..)

Just an observation!
