Is this some kind of Anglo-Hollywood hybrid TV show ?
With Dr.House as some kind of transplanted *Cracker* ?
True he does not solve crimes as did Cracker, but he is every bit as
disheveled as Cracker, and he rude to almost everyone as was Cracker and
like Cracker he loves to gamble.

No, House is (quite literally) "Sherlock Holmes, MD, by way of
Columbo." There's a difference.

HOUSE is starting to resemble MCCLOUD more and more. Cuddy is turning into
Clifford.

Didn't Cracker turn out to be a crook of sorts?

"Cracker" isn't actually a who. CRACKER was a British TV series in
the early-to-mid-90s starring Robbie Coltrane as "Fitz" Fitzgerald,
a psychologist who helped the police solve crimes. A year after the
original series finished in 1996, it was remade as an American series
with MURPHY BROWN's Robert Pastorelli as Fitz. This later aired in
Britain under the title FITZ, to prevent confusion with the original.
The American remake was surprisingly good, but not a patch on the
original, which I highly recommend. Both the British and American
series are available in their entirety on DVD.

This is good to know. I got to see the Coltrane version on some U.S.
channel, but can't remember when or where. I just loved it!!!

It's worth mentioning for fans of the original series that there's
a new Cracker movie that will be airing on ITV in Britain in October,
though oddly enough, it's already aired in Australia. It picks
up, appropriately enough, 10 years after the original series ended.
A new series is supposed to be in the works for airing next year.

Now, this is great news!!! British mysteries are so much better than ours.
Sure hope we get to see it eventually.

I have no idea if the new movie will air on BBC America, or anywhere
else in the US. The original series aired here on A&E.
