Justin Pate...
I like "Hogan's Heroes" more than "M*A*S*H".

Dolemite...
M*A*S*H the series was WAY overrated. Now the movie was hilarious, the show
I could take it or leave it.

Anim8rFSK...
The movie was vastly superior in all ways.

Anim8rFSK...
M*A*S*H started out okay, but the more Alda had to do with it, the worse
it got. The last many years not only weren't as good as Hogan's Heroes,
they weren't as good as ENTERPRISE.

Justin Pate...
I don't think there's all that much difference between the early years of
MASH and the later years. It's not as if somehow Larry Gelbart was less of
a flaming liberal than Alan Alda was.

Anim8rFSK...
The early years were entertaining. There's a big difference right there.

EGK...
I think you and others are missing the point people are making. Most all
Hollywood tends to be liberal. It's about people objecting to being
preached to. The movie and early TV seasons were funny without being
preachy.

Anim8rFSK...
What he said.

Justin Pate...
All TV, if there's a sociopolitical message behind it, is preachy. Even
Hogan's Heroes at times had a preachy line in a show. Admittedly they were
rare. But the only show I can truly say that wasn't preachy was SCTV. And
that was made far away from Hollywood.

Obveeus...
Why am I not surprised. The guy that thinks William Shatner is a great
actor thinks Alan Alda was the weak link in M*A*S*H.

EGK...
He was but not because of his acting. He made the show politically correct
before politically correct became a phrase. When "Hot Lips" became Margaret
and they had women's rights episodes in a 1950's setting, you knew Alda was
pulling the strings.

Happens to a lot of people who gain too much power over a show. Especially
noticable in a comedy. They start inserting their own sensibilities in to
the stories and forget what made it funny in the first place.

RichA...
It was a better show. MASH was leftwing garbage.

KenStahl...
Yeah, you right wingnuts hate anything that glorify war.

RichA...
Listening to Alan Alda preach and drone on about the greatness of the
communist enemy while villifying the Americans by reading the leftwing
drivel of the show's LEFTWING creator got BORING really fast. Toward
the end, someone could have bashed in the skulls of the characters
played by Alda and Farr and no one would have cared.

Kinik...
I never did like M*A*S*H myself.
