Has this been officially announced by HBO (or BBC)?

Also, is it true that the BBC showed a shorter version of the opening
ep(s)?

Goro...
ROME S2 is due to be broadcast in 2007.

Ian J. Ball...
That's apparently old news.

There are rumors that HBO is going to axe it after all. As best I can
tell, this all got started with some comments from Chris Albrecht back
in Nov.

But the answer is no "official" announcement about cancellation has been
made, so it's all just rumor/speculation at this point, AFAICT.

HBO is up on Friday (01/13) at the TCA Press Tour, so we might get an
"official" answer one way or the other then...

Goro...
ok, excellent, thanks for the clarification.

While I'd love for ROME S2 to happen, if it doesn't and instead they
develop a different (great) series, that would be wonderful, too.

After ROME, i watched SLEEPER CELL and fell in love with that. One
season closed-ended series are perfectly fine, but it's the "We might
do antoher season" that really irritates me.

Eli Renfro...
Bring back Carnivale.

BBC did edit down some of the eps and the writers/producers did have a
fit.

i don't have a link for the above off-hand, but they are readily
findable.

Chris...
