So this scene may be a flashback (unless the Swan statiion returns/now
exists elsewhere)

I was trying to figure this out, too. Either they're watching a
previously recorded tape of the Swan, or they're looking at some other
station that can be monitored from the Pearl.
I don't get the timeline either. The preview says they've been on the
island for 71 days. I thought that season two ended on day 65. Benry
told Jack a day or two ago (island time)that it had been 69 days since
the crash.
In "Every Man for Himself," Tom tells Benry that the sky turned purple
two days ago. Wouldn't that have been day 65? Sayid, Sun and Jin were
only sailing a couple of days total before the sailboat was taken and
Colleen was shot. It seems like several days were lost somewhere along
the way, or the estimate of the length of season two is wrong. Locke
told Desmond just before the Swan imploded that they'd been there 60-65
days, and Carlton Cuse apparently confirmed 65 days in an interview.

It looked like a Zeta Reticulan -- I didn't get a chance to see which
race -- but I suspect it's a guy in a Zeta Reticulan suit.

but also a fair amount of his forehead!
