Nice, poignant episode featuring a minor character. I had trouble following
the plot though, partly cuz of straining to catch the dialog and just being
dense I guess. :-)

Close captioning is a lifesaver for this sort of thing.

Why did they need the small ships to lead the big ships through the star

I believe they said that the military ships had better shielded
hardware, so they wouldn't be as disoriented as the civilian ships. So,
the plan was that each little military ship would (a) find its civilian
ship -- which didn't always happen -- (b) figure out the coordinates
for their next jump, and (c) transmit said coordinates to the big ship
so they can both get out of there.
In general on this show I find it's best to not worry about the details
of the plot, because the writers obviously don't.

cluster? How did their food supply get contaminated in the first place?
When they got across to the planet, they just scooped up some algae? How
did they get it onboard?

Details, details. BSG is about special effects, dramatic little scenes,
and vague suggestive hints. If it had enough of a plot to criticize,
I'd be doing so.

It's also about not being Star Trek. It makes no difference how the food
manufacturing facilities became contaminated because the solution had
nothing to do with fixing that problem. Trek would have made us wait 40
minutes until McCoy or Data or someone recalibrated the frabijulator (3
seconds before warp core breach). ;-)

You got me -- I was asking the same questions!

And on the cylon ship--the babbling cylon said something about the baby's
(Hera) husband, Jupiter, and they got the eye of Jupiter from that. Are
they talking about our planet Jupiter? There was something about 5, maybe

What's weird is the captioning said "Zeus," not "Jupiter."

Same guy though, right?
Playboy Magazine. Now, the home viewer can finally decide for themselves if
there is any way to tell humans and cylons apart. ;-)

they said 5th planet? Why did Xena say there was a connection between the
human and cylon gods? Why was it dangerous for Baltar to touch the cylon?
Why can't the cylons tell or find out if he's one of them?
